Job description

Factory6 is a dietary supplement manufacturer committed to producing safe, high-quality products in compliance with federal, state, customer, and certification requirements. Our Quality & Food Safety function partners across Operations, Supply Chain, and R&D to maintain an audit-ready facility, strengthen accountability on the manufacturing floor, and drive continuous improvement.

Role Summary

We are seeking a hands-on Quality Systems Supervisor to lead the daily operations of our Quality Assurance and Quality Control teams. Reporting to the Director of Quality, this role serves as the tactical quality anchor on the plant floor, translating the strategic quality roadmap into consistent execution. You will supervise shift inspectors, manage documentation workflows, maintain inspection and audit readiness, and build a culture of compliance, accountability, and safety.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Systems & Certification Leadership: Support day-to-day maintenance of SQF certification, the Costco Addendum, NSF/ANSI 455-2 requirements, and customer-specific programs. Monitor floor compliance with specialized certification schemes as the business grows, including organic, kosher, halal, gluten-free, and NSF Certified for Sport.

Audit Readiness & CAPA: Serve as the secondary point of contact and facility tour lead for third-party, customer, and regulatory audits and inspections. Execute internal and mock audits and gap analyses; lead initial investigations and root cause analyses; and support timely closure of corrective and preventive actions.

Food Safety & SQF Program Execution: Verify daily implementation of the Food Safety Plan, HACCP/HARPC programs, sanitary controls, allergen controls, sanitation verification, environmental monitoring, and pest management. Support the SQF Practitioner of record and participate as a core member of the Food Safety Team.

Quality Assurance & Document Control: Oversee real-time document control, change control, batch record review, and data-integrity practices. Evaluate deviations, non-conformances, and material quarantines, provide data-backed hold/release recommendations to the Director, and partner with shift supervisors to resolve manufacturing-line issues.

Quality Control & Laboratory Oversight: Verify that raw material, in-process, and finished product attributes meet established internal and customer specifications.

Team Leadership & Development: Build, schedule, and lead a high-performing shift organization of QA/QC specialists, technicians, and inspectors. Set clear expectations, track shift-specific KPIs, conduct performance reviews and one-on-ones, and coach team members through compliance troubleshooting, non-conformance logs, and line-clearance decisions.

Cross-Functional Partnership & NPI Support: Coordinate with Operations, Supply Chain, and R&D to ensure quality expectations are clear and practical. Gather technical data for customer complaints, technical reviews, and onboarding requests, and provide hands-on quality and food-safety oversight for new product introductions.

Compliance, Risk & Continuous Improvement: Enforce 21 CFR Part 111, FSMA, and state manufacturing requirements on the production floor. Identify and mitigate quality and food safety risks across blending and packaging, and improve right-first-time yields, deviation closure speed, and release cycle time.

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree required, with 3 to 5 years of progressive QA/QC supervisory experience in an FDA-regulated dietary supplement, food, or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.

Regulatory Expertise: Practical working knowledge of 21 CFR Part 111, FSMA Preventive Controls, and HACCP/HARPC frameworks.

Audit & Technical Writing: Direct experience participating in or preparing for third-party audits such as SQF, NSF, or Costco vendor audits, plus strong technical writing skills for deviations, CAPAs, and standard operating procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

Certifications: Current SQF Practitioner or PCQI (Preventive Controls Qualified Individual) certification.

Industry & Technical Experience: Experience with rapid micro validation platforms or advanced laboratory testing methods, dietary supplement contract manufacturing, and stickpack, capsule, or bottled formats.

Continuous Improvement: Lean, Six Sigma, or related continuous-improvement training with demonstrated application in a quality setting.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

Manufacturing Environment: This exempt, salaried role works in both office and manufacturing settings, with significant time expected on the production floor. Appropriate PPE is required in production and laboratory areas, including safety glasses, hairnet, beard net, hearing protection, and lab coat.

Physical Demands: Ability to walk, stand, and move throughout the facility for extended periods and occasionally lift and carry up to 35 pounds.

Conditions & Travel: Comfort working around varying temperatures, noise levels, and dust from raw and packaging materials, with periodic travel to suppliers, customers, certification bodies, industry events, and other Factory6 sites as needed.

Success in This Role

Audit Readiness: Keep the facility continuously prepared for FDA, state, foreign-authority, customer, and certification audits.

Operational Performance: Improve right-first-time yields, deviation-closure speed, and release-cycle time while maintaining strong documentation and data integrity.

Leadership & Accountability: Build floor-level audit fluency, strengthen team capabilities, and reinforce consistent quality, food safety, and compliance expectations across production shifts.

What We Offer

Compensation: $65,000-75,000 per year (commensurate with experience).

Benefits: Paid Time Off, Paid Company Holidays, Full Medical Coverage, Dental, Vision, and 401(k) Plan participation.

Environment: A positive, collaborative, and fast-paced team environment.
