Job summary

General Motors in Grand Rapids, MI seeks a Quality Systems Specialist to act as SME for the Fast Response process, lead daily meetings, and maintain BIQ and quality documentation. You will mentor manufacturing teams, coordinate with PTC, and ensure audits and procedural updates are completed accurately.

The role requires a BS in Engineering or equivalent, strong quality systems knowledge, 3+ years in manufacturing, and outstanding communication with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Quality Systems knowledge.
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • High level of written and oral communication skills for developing procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work cross-functionally and cross-culturally.
  • Ability to work weekends and overtime as needed.
  • Maintain safety and good housekeeping standards.

Responsibilities

  • Run plant daily Fast Response meetings.
  • Maintain plant quality requirements.
  • Own plant BIQ, run bi-weekly meetings, compile evidence, and support external calibrations.
  • Attend manufacturing PTC meetings and coach teams on problem solving.
  • Calculate and report plant quality metrics to Corporate GM.
  • Participate in North America Quality Requirements call and implement changes.
  • Own and maintain Grand Rapids Operating Procedures (GROP).
  • Conduct 3-year audits of Grand Rapids Operating Procedures.

This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Grand Rapids Operations on a full-time basis.This role may be eligible for relocation benefits.The successful candidate will be assigned to 1st shift; occasional overtime and weekends are expected.The Role:As a Quality Systems Specialist, you will:Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Fast Response process at Grand Rapids, including running the daily Fast Response meeting, maintaining a log of customer complaints, working with Protect the Customer (PTC) teams to ensure required fast response timing is met, and reviewing all fast response required documentation for completeness and effectiveness.Responsible for BIQ at Grand Rapids.
