Job summary

General Motors in Warren, MI, seeks a Quality Systems Manufacturing Engineer to develop and launch automated measurement systems for body assemblies and vehicles. You will lead cross-functional development from concept through production validation, partnering with Body Quality, BIW/GA, Controls, Robotics, and suppliers to deliver integrated systems on program timing.

The role requires ownership, initiative, and independent judgment to establish robust measurement and dimensional control

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of experience in Body Manufacturing or Manufacturing Engineering.
• Experience developing automated systems in a Body Shop with understanding of processing, design, construction, and launch.
• Demonstrated project management experience with suppliers and integrators.
• Expertise in body manufacturing and assembly processes with dimensional quality experience.
• General knowledge of statistics and GD&T.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Interpersonal and leadership skills for cross-functional teams.
• Ability to work with independent judgment in a plant setting.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and implementation of automated body assembly and vehicle measurement systems.
• Partner with multiple engineering teams to deliver measurement solutions on schedule.
• Develop zone processes, timing, and cost estimates for programs.
• Define requirements for sourced measurement systems and manage suppliers.
• Define dimensional measurement strategies with quality leads and plant personnel.
• Manage system development from concept to validation in an assembly plant or metal center.
• Deliver systems aligned with MV-1 and PED114 and drive continuous improvements.
