Job summary

General Motors Corporation in Warren, Michigan seeks a Quality Systems Engineer to lead the development and launch of automated measurement systems for body assemblies and vehicles. You will collaborate with Body Quality, BIW/GA, Controls, Robotics, and suppliers to deliver robust dimensional solutions on program timing.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 3+ years in body manufacturing or manufacturing engineering, plus supplier management experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of Body Manufacturing or Manufacturing Engineering experience.
• Experience developing automated systems in a Body Shop with equipment, tooling, and integration.
• Demonstrated project management experience with suppliers and integrators.
• Expertise in body manufacturing and assembly processes, with dimensional quality/measUREMENT systems.
• General knowledge of statistics and GD&T.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to lead cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and launch of automated body assembly and vehicle measurement systems.
• Collaborate with ME Body Quality, BIW/GA Manufacturing Engineers, and suppliers to deliver measurement solutions.
• Develop zone processes, timing, and cost estimates for new and existing programs.
• Define Statements of Requirements for measurement/tools systems and manage suppliers.
• Define dimensional measurement strategies with VDQM and Plant Dimensional teams.
• Deliver a tuned-in body per MV-1 and PED114, incorporating lessons learned.
