Job summary

Northrop Grumman’s Elkton, MD facility is seeking a Quality Systems Assistant 5 to join the Inspection department under Mission Assurance. You will ensure incoming production materials meet requirements, review inspections, and prepare hardware packages for customers.

The role requires a High School Diploma or equivalent with 8 years in inspection, proficiency with MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint, and the ability to interpret blueprints with GD&T.

The Northrop Grumman Propulsion Systems and Controls (PS&C) facility in Elkton, Maryland began solid-propellant rocket operations in 1948. Today, the Elkton PS&C facility designs, develops, and produces solid-propellant propulsion and ordnance systems in programs professionally managed for a wide variety of Government and commercial customers. The facility also serves as the hub for offsite engineering and test facilities in Ronkonkoma, NY, and Palm Beach Gardens, FL.

Northrop Grumman is currently seeking Quality Systems Assistant 5 in our Inspection department reporting into Mission Assurance area in our Elkton, Maryland facility.

Job Functions/Responsibilities

• Ensure incoming production materials and components meet engineering and configuration requirements.
• Review and complete identified inspections according to process control documents, drawings and specifications.
• Provide analysis and data to support program investigations.
• Assist in First Article Inspections (FAI).
• Prepare and present hardware and material packages to external customers for acceptance.

Basic Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent and minimum 8 years’ experience in inspection methodologies and inspection tools.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Skilled in using standard measuring equipment.
• Interpret blueprints and be knowledgeable with geometric dimensioning and tolerances.
• Must be able to interact and assist with Manufacturing and Engineering personnel in regards to part conformance and process capability.
• Be safety oriented and willing to work with explosive components.
• Strong computer skills i.e. Office, Quality systems, Inventory etc.
• Willing to work overtime, as needed.
• Detailed oriented.
• Demonstrable ability to follow written and verbal instruction.
• Shift work required.
• Candidates must be capable of obtaining a Secret level government security clearance for which US Citizenship is a prerequisite.

Preferred Requirement

• Working Knowledge of TipQA Application.
• Working Knowledge of Solumina Application.
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree.
• Knowledge of Quality Inspection Process.

This position falls under a Federal Explosives License issued by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) for this location.

Candidates hired into this role will be required to complete and submit an Employee Possessor Questionnaire to ATF for approval to be a possessor.

Salary

Primary Level Salary Range: $75,500.00 - $125,900.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
