1.0 INTRODUCTION

• The purpose of this procedure is to define and establish the functions, duties, authority, and responsibilities of the Quality Supervisor Position for Todd’s.

2.0 FUNCTIONAL ROLE

2.1 The Quality Supervisor is responsible for ensuring plant adherence to all GMP, SQF, and HACCP processes as required by Plant Regulations. The Quality Supervisor ensures all food safety measures are being followed at the facility they are leading.

3.0 REQUIREMENTS

• Education
• Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent Experience
• Preferred: Certified Classes, Food Safety, Good Management Practices, HAACP, SQF Processes

• Required: 5 Year of Experience in Quality, Food Safety, or Manufacturing at a Food Processing Plant

3.5 Working conditions

• Production Facility is a controlled smoke free environment.
• Employees will be expected to wash hands before entering Production Center
• Employees will be expected to wear gloves, masks, and other essential protection equipment as required by Quality Control.
• Employee must follow all GMP’s and maintain good personal hygiene as per FDA food safety Guidelines.

4.0 REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

• The Quality Supervisor reports to the Quality Manager.
• In absence of the Quality Manager, the Quality Supervisor reports to the General Manager.
• The Quality Manager covers the Responsibilities for the Quality Supervisor when the Quality Control Lead is absent.
• The Quality Lead position reports to The Quality Supervisor.
• The Quality Supervisor with The Plant Leads and Plant Manager, to ensure all quality controls are enforced and practiced throughout the Facility.

5.0 AUTHORITY

• The Quality Supervisor has the authority to discipline employees for poor food safety practices, quality issues, and improper cleaning processes. The quality supervisor has the authority to shut down production lines due to improper food safety practices and not following proper quality control processes.

6.0 GENERAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for ensuring all food safety measures are being followed under his/her supervision.
• Ensures all Quality Control Mandates are Followed by Facility and Actively Monitors and Models Quality Control Behavior.
• Ensures samples of produced product daily are collected and documented based on company standard operating procedures and customer specifications.
• Works with and as a SQF Practitioner to ensure Standard Operating Procedures are being followed.
• Validates the functionality and Verifies the Critical Control Points and Preventative Controls.
• Understands HACCP and SQF Principles and implements those expectations.
• Updates SQF processes and works with SQF Practitioner to keep records and management SOP’s up to date.
• Ensures Daily Production Logs adhere to company SOP’s. Checks logs for accuracy and balances lot numbers on logs.
• Ensures all rooms are properly cleaned prior to ATP Swapping.
• Ensures GMP’s have been performed by production centers and notifies management when production centers fail to perform GMP’s.
• The Quality Supervisor is responsible for releasing the product placed on hold that does not meet qualified specifications.
• Checks Finished Goods Paperwork and Ensures all products have been labeled correctly and moved to Finished Goods for Shipping.
• Helps run customer plant audits and tours and always presents self in a professional manner.
• Responsible for working with Plant Manager and Scheduling to develop daily batch records report’s and ensures information in the report is accurate and up to date.
• Ensures production yields line up with actual batch production and final report is complete, accurate, and ready for invoicing.
• Recognizes Allergens, Organics, and Kosher to Determine Proper Handling.
• Checks Finished Goods Paperwork and Work Orders for Work Centers and Ensures all Products Have Been Labeled Correctly and moved to Finished Goods for Shipping.
• Works with Production Line Leads to Determine Best Practices and Processes to Complete Work in the Work Center.
• This position is responsible for implementing and updating the following programs to ensure safe and quality foods are produced:
• Foreign Objects Programs
• Training Programs
• Corrective and Preventative Action Programs
• Quality Programs
• Other Programs as Assigned.
• SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
• This position is a supervisory position in the Quality Department in Des Moines Iowa.
• There are three sites that the Quality Supervisor will oversee at the Des Moines Metro.
• The supervisor will ensure:
• Quality Employees are conducting their duties based on documented procedures.
• Quality Employees are on time for work.
• All employees are trained in expectations related to SQF, Halal, Kosher, Organic, SMETA, HACCP, HAPRC, and Other Programs as per our Training Policy.
• RELATIONSHIP WITH OTHERS
• Maintains a Cooperative Working Relationship with all Employees.
• Promotes a High Degree of Morale and a Spirit of Motivation Amongst Members of the Team.
• Always Gives Proper Notice of Absences and Vacation Time to Direct Supervisor.

8.0 MEASUREMENTS OF PERFORMANCE

The Quality Control Manager will evaluate the Performance of the Quality Control Lead

• All Quality Goals Have Been Met for Todd’s Facility which includes; Reducing Customer Complaints, No Major or Critical Findings During Customer, Industrial, or Regulatory Audits.
• The Quality Supervisor and Leads have verified quality practices are being performed Daily, Weekly, Monthly, and Quarterly.
• The Quality Supervisor has effectively managed quality and Todd’s Production Lines and have met production targets for the Facility.
• Work Orders Have Been Processed through Production Lines with Minimal Errors.
• The Quality Supervisor has communicated needs of Quality Department to the Plant Manager and has recommended solutions to all quality issues that have been experienced.
• The Quality Manager is satisfied with the level of performance they have received from the Quality Supervisor.
• The Quality Supervisor has maintained a cooperative Working Relationships with All Employees and Managers
