Job summary

nVent is seeking a Lead Quality Operations professional for its Lexington, MN facility opening in 2027. Onboarding and training will occur at Blaine or Anoka, MN.

The role focuses on leading quality technicians, managing inspections, and driving continuous improvement across manufacturing. The candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in engineering, 5+ years in manufacturing/quality, lean/Six Sigma exposure, and certifications such as CQE/CMQ/CQA.

This position is based in Lexington, MN, and our new facility will open in 2027. Upon hire, onboarding and training will be held at our facilities in Blaine or Anoka, MN until the Lexington facility opens.

What You’ll Experience in this Position

Lead Quality Operations

• Provide day-to-day leadership and support for Quality Technicians, helping the team achieve quality, safety, and performance goals.
• Oversee incoming, in-process, and final inspections to ensure products meet customer and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor quality metrics and trends, identifying opportunities for improvement and corrective action.
• Support calibration activities and ensure appropriate inspection and testing equipment is available and maintained.

Support Quality Systems & Compliance

• Partner with the Quality Manager to maintain and improve the site's Quality Management System (QMS).
• Help prepare for and support internal, customer, and third-party audits.
• Maintain quality procedures, work instructions, and documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Assist with corrective and preventive action (CAPA) activities, including root cause investigations and effectiveness verification.

Solve Problems & Improve Processes

• Lead and support structured problem‑solving efforts using tools such as 5 Why, 8D, and Root Cause Corrective Management (RCCM).
• Partner with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Customer Service teams to resolve quality concerns and prevent recurrence.
• Participate in Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing defects, improving processes, and enhancing customer satisfaction.
• Conduct daily floor presence and process reviews to identify risks and improvement opportunities.

Partner with Customers & Suppliers

• Support customer audits, investigations, and quality‑related communications.
• Collaborate with suppliers to address incoming quality concerns and drive improvement initiatives.
• Help ensure quality expectations are clearly communicated and consistently maintained throughout the supply chain.

Develop People & Build a Quality Culture

• Train and coach employees on quality standards, inspection methods, and process compliance.
• Support employee development through mentoring, feedback, and ongoing learning opportunities.
• Champion a culture of accountability, teamwork, continuous improvement, and Quality at the Source.

YOU HAVE:

• At least a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field
• 5+ years of experience with Manufacturing or Quality processes.
• A year or more of previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred
• Quality Certifications such as CQE, CMQ, CQA, and ISO 9001:2015
• Internal Auditor training are strongly preferred.
• Experience in process improvement, planning, Six Sigma, Lean training, and quality systems.
• Experience with optical, multi‑sensor, and scanning inspection equipment (preferred)
• Experience supporting quality initiatives across multiple manufacturing sites (preferred)
• Experience leading projects and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Pay Transparency nVent’s pay scale is based on the expected range of base pay for this job and the employee’s work location. Employee pay within this range will be based on a combination of factors including knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, education, and performance. Where federal, state, or local minimum wage requirements exist, employee pay will comply. Compensation Range: $89,300.00 - $165,800.00 Depending on the position offered, employee may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as annual incentives.
