Job Overview

Quality Specialist | Hodges, SC

Shift: 2nd Shift (2pm to 10:30pm). Also must be available for training on 1st Shift (Mon‑Fri 6am‑2:30pm) at $16.50 per hour before transitioning to 2nd Shift at $17.00 per hour with a $0.75 shift differential.

Pay: $17.75 per hour during 2nd Shift. Full-Time, Biweekly Pay, and Benefits.

Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of inspection functions to check quality and accuracy of in‑process parts.
  • Inspect and accept and/or reject purchased gauges or gaging equipment.
  • Analyze special problems arising from faulty methods.
  • Perform salvage weld operations on miscellaneous parts.
  • Lay out parts using advanced mathematical calculations and precision inspection equipment.
Required Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; ability to write simple correspondence; ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions; ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous quality experience.
  • Previous assembly or machine operating experience.
  • Ability to work various shifts and flexible hours.
Physical Demands

Regularly required to operate equipment including forklift, man lifts, overhead cranes, jib cranes and hoists; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Occasionally required to walk, climb or balance, and talk or hear. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

Regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles, flashes, burns, eye strain and sparks from welder and grinder. Frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to vibration. Occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to extreme heat while welding in hot weather. Noise level is usually very loud.
