Job description

An established steel fabrication and manufacturing operation is adding Quality Inspectors on its night shift. You inspect parts and assemblies from receiving through fabrication to shipping against prints and customer specs — the checkpoint that keeps defects from leaving the building. Pay moves up a posted, skill-based ladder as you prove blueprint mastery, weld and coating inspection, and audit leadership.

  • Anticipated $18.22–$25.00 per hour, based on experience and demonstrated skill level
  • Pay advances on a defined skill ladder (blueprint proficiency, special-process weld/paint inspection, audit leadership)
  • Full suite of benefits, 401K w/ match, PTO/Holiday
  • 2nd shift; overtime available
Overview
  • Catch defects before they leave the building — perform receiving, in-process, and final inspections against prints and specs
  • Apply company and customer drawings as the inspection criteria on every part
  • Produce inspection reports clear and accurate enough that the Quality Manager can act without follow-up
  • Support internal audits and keep quality records and document control current
  • Communicate quality issues to production and outside parties so they get fixed, not just logged
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Reads and applies blueprints and specifications as inspection criteria (strongly preferred)
  • 2–3 years in a fabrication environment (welding, CNC, forming, assembly, coating, warehousing) — strongly preferred

  • Weld inspection knowledge; AWS D1.1 familiarity strongly preferred and tied to pay advancement
  • ASME IX and powder‑coat/paint inspection knowledge — accelerates progression on the pay ladder
  • Comfortable working independently in a noisy, non‑climate‑controlled shop with forklift traffic
  • Basic Word, Excel, and Outlook
