Bachelor's degree required; Six Sigma Green Belt preferred; effective communication and problem-solving essential; U.S. government contracting experience preferred.

JOB SUMMARY

The Quality Specialist for Alloy Surfaces Company (ASC) supports the daily operations of the Quality Assurance function through technical quality analysis, quality system support, nonconformance management, corrective action, and continuous improvement. This position analyzes quality data, investigates product and process issues, supports audits and compliance activities, and works with cross-functional teams to improve product and process quality. This position leads the effort, coordinates, and supports ISO 9001 certification and compliance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Analyze quality data and trends to identify recurring issues, process risks, and opportunities for improvement
  • Track corrective actions and verify effectiveness through timely completion and follow-up
  • Perform specialized inspection or testing activities as needed to support investigations, validation, or other quality requirements
  • Execute quality activities in accordance with established procedures, work instructions, quality standards, and departmental objectives
  • Provide technical support and guidance to manufacturing personnel and elevate significant quality concerns as appropriate
  • Participates in and lead activities associated with the defined quality process or program areas, including quality planning, continuous improvements, special project leadership, design and development actions, etc.
  • Supports implementation of quality improvement initiatives to reduce process variation and prevent defects and/or non-compliance, including software
  • Leverage statistical analysis, root cause analysis, quality tools, and problem-solving concepts such as SPC, control charts, Six Sigma, 5 Why/DMAIC/DIVE within the production environment
  • Support the implementation of new quality processes, tools, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support the implementation of quality policies, procedures, work instructions, and best practices to improve operational performance
  • Support supplier quality responsibilities, including supplier corrective actions, supplier audits, supplier selection and approval, supplier quality performance ratings and reviews, and supplier follow-up actions when assigned
  • Assist with facilitating problem-solving activities, continuous improvement projects, Kaizen or Lean Manufacturing events, and Quality Management System requirement and activities
  • Provide technical guidance to Quality Inspectors and manufacturing personnel regarding quality requirements and problem-solving
  • Work within the Quality Management System to standardize and maintain AS9100 / ISO9001 Certification
  • Work closely and effectively with functional teams to ensure customer expectations are met

Requirements
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION
  • Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Engineering, or related field
  • Six Sigma Green Belt / Lean Six Sigma training preferred
  • RCCM / RCCA structured problem solving training preferred
  • ASQ Certifications preferred: Organizational Excellence, Quality Engineer, Six Sigma Black Belt, Quality Auditor preferred
EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Quality within a regulated manufacturing environment, preferably aerospace or defense in the areas of supplier quality, statistical techniques, failure analysis and corrective action
  • Experience supporting U.S. Government contracting activities, including FAR, DFARS, and DCMA requirements
  • Experience with AS9100/ISO9001 QMS requirements to support quality system operations
ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be eligible to obtain and/or maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance commensurate with the level of facility clearance
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, influencing, and organizational skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to apply sound judgment, initiative, and creativity to complex technical challenges
  • Strong knowledge of Lean principles and a demonstrated continuous improvement mindset
  • Proven ability to develop quality systems and procedures supporting new products from prototype through full-rate production
  • Ability to develop reports, business correspondence, technical documentation, and quality procedures
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing processes, inspection methods, testing, and Q/A principles
  • Strong decision-making skills and a results-driven approach
  • Experience in reporting on key quality metrics
  • Use of quality improvement tools - mistake-proofing/poke-yoke, 5-S, visual management aids, capability studies, A3 problem analysis tools, etc
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
PHYSICAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise moving objects, weighing up to 10 pounds occasionally and/or a negligible amount of weight frequently. Involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Use of computer.
