Job description

JOB SUMMARY

The Human Resources Generalist for Alloy Surfaces Company (ASC) partners with HR leadership and business leaders to deliver Human Resources programs, policies, and initiatives. The Generalist performs professional-level HR responsibilities while supporting various leaders and employees in one or more assigned client groups. The Generalist carries out responsibilities in a wide variety of functional areas, including benefits administration, employee relations, performance and talent management, talent acquisition, compensation, payroll, and compliance. The Generalist may also support organizational development, employee development initiatives, and training to deliver value-added services to the business.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all ASC employee inquiries related to day-to-day HR functions
  • Provide day-to-day guidance to leaders on performance management, employee development, coaching, performance improvement, corrective actions, and policy interpretation
  • Administer employee benefit programs and serve as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries regarding medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, PTO, leaves of absence, and employee assistance programs
  • Analyze workforce metrics, including turnover, headcount, retention, exit interviews, and market data, and provide recommendations to improve organizational effectiveness
  • Responsible for payroll administration including the processing of biweekly payroll and all associated tasks
  • Serve as subject matter expert and administrator for the ASC timekeeping system (UKG/Kronos)
  • Review timecards for employees and assist with approvals and troubleshooting
  • Maintain accurate employee records throughout the employee lifecycle; create and maintain all records, reports, and logs to comply with federal and state employment laws and regulations
  • Administer FMLA and Workers’ Compensation programs, and coordinate short-term disability and long-term disability claims, including communication of Workers’ Compensation procedures for employees and serving as a liaison with the insurance carrier
  • Serve as a role model, creating positive relationships with staff in an environment of mutual respect and trust
  • Assist with employee relations issues and ensure accurate, timely feedback and escalation of issues when needed; conduct effective, thorough, and objective investigations as needed
  • Support talent acquisition activities, including interviewing, selection, onboarding, and partnering with hiring managers throughout the recruitment process
  • Maintain and update job descriptions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable laws and company standards
  • Create and maintain Human Resources Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Plan and facilitate employer sponsored events and activities to promote positive morale and engagement
  • Respond to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs

  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures, including but not limited to the Code of Conduct, U.S. Code of Ethics and Business Conduct, and the Chemring Operational Framework

Requirements
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Organizational Development, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • HRCI Professional in Human Resources (PHR) Certification highly preferred or ability to gain certification within 12 months of hire required
EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of three years of progressive HR experience and knowledge supporting multiple HR functional areas
  • Prior human resources experience supporting manufacturing and/or engineering organizations preferred
  • Experience in a Government Contracting environment is preferred
ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be eligible to obtain and/or maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance commensurate with the level of facility clearance
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, influencing, and organizational skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, high degree of accuracy, and ability to independently prioritize and perform multiple assignments
  • Able to maintain a high level of confidentiality and exercise effective independent judgment, sensitivity, and creativity to changing needs and situations
  • Strong active listening, critical thinking, judgment, decision-making, problem-solving, and time management skills
  • Must be adaptable to changes in the work environment, comfortable with multiple competing demands, and able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events in a calm and logical manner
  • Ability to represent the Company positively and professionally through behavior, attitude, and communication
  • Must have the highest level of ethics and integrity
  • Strong customer service orientation with a collaborative business partner mindset
  • Excellent problem-solving skills; creative in approach to dealing with complex situations
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems
PHYSICAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise moving objects, weighing up to 10 pounds occasionally and/or a negligible amount of weight frequently. Involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Use of computer.
