Job summary

Cleveland-Cliffs Indiana Harbor, an integrated steelmaking facility in East Chicago, IN, seeks a qualified candidate to manage the Quality Management Systems. You will lead safety, quality, and environmental standards, develop directives and processes, and drive corrective actions across the organization.

The role requires a Metallurgical/Materials Science background with 6+ years in manufacturing, strong analytical and communication skills, and the ability to work across operations,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical or Material Science or related field.
• 6+ years of experience dealing with manufacturing processes.
• Strong communication, analytical, organizational, and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance and provide leadership for safety, quality, and environmental standards.
• Develop and administer Quality directives, programs, processes, procedures, and controls to ensure that quality systems conform to company, customer, industry, and governmental standards.
• Ensure timely and proactive corrective/preventive action implementation and verification.
• Provide metallurgical and technical support for product and process improvement through data analysis, problem solving, expertise in area of responsibility, metallurgical and mechanical concepts, and knowledge of customer operations and markets.
• Provide technical solutions to internal and external customers by understanding manufacturing and product capability.
• Drive reduction and velocity in the management of material flow through disposition of distressed material in accordance with customer and internal standards and business imperatives.
• Recommend new technology to satisfy changing customer and marketplace demands.
• Work closely with operations, engineering, maintenance, and other technical resources to drive results.
• Demonstrate the ability to work effectively within a team environment, utilizing clear and effective communication skills.
