Job summary

University of Colorado Anschutz is seeking a Quality & Safety Specialist to support clinical operations, quality improvement, and program management. The role coordinates improvement initiatives, analyzes metrics, and helps ensure regulatory compliance across a complex health system.

Hybrid schedule with on-campus collaboration three days per week and in-person meetings as needed. Candidates should have a health care quality background and experience with EMR systems.

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Substitution: education and related experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis.
  • Two years of experience leading quality improvement and/or program implementation in health care.

Job Summary:

This position provides professional support for clinicaloperations, quality improvement, and program management activities.Functions include independently coordinating and implementingquality and performance improvement initiatives; supportingclinical programs and service delivery; monitoring and analyzingoperational, quality, and patient care metrics; facilitatingregulatory and accreditation compliance; developing and maintainingpolicies, procedures, and workflows; managing programimplementation and evaluation; supporting clinical teams inachieving organizational goals; and coordinating training,communication, and continuous improvement efforts to enhancepatient care, safety, efficiency, and outcomes. Positions may also serve as liaisons among clinical, administrative, academic, andcommunity partners to advance strategic priorities and operationalexcellence.

Examples of Duties Performed:
  • Assist with and support the day-to-day operations of qualityimprovement and program implementation initiatives.
  • Adhere to clinical practice standards, evidence-based practice,and established policies and procedures.
  • Assist Team Leads, Supervisors, and/or management with creationand implementation of processes and procedures and qualityimprovement initiatives.
  • Act as a project manager on multiple qualityimprovement/program implementation initiatives or grant-fundedinitiatives.
  • Assist and train junior team members.
  • Assist with identifying issues related to operationalefficiency and share results with leadership.
  • Support the Quality and Safety Program Administrator tocoordinate quality improvement and performance improvementinitiatives.
  • Collect, analyze, and report clinical, operational, and qualityperformance data.
  • Monitor, in collaboration with the leadership team,organizational quality metrics, benchmarks, and key performanceindicators.
  • Support program planning, implementation, evaluation,continuous improvement, and project implementationactivities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop, revise, and implementpolicies, procedures, and standard operating workflows.
  • Coordinate regulatory, accreditation, and complianceactivities, including audit preparation and follow-up.
  • Facilitate quality, safety, and program management committeesand workgroups.
  • Conduct chart reviews, workflow assessments, and processimprovement analyses.
  • Prepare reports, dashboards, presentations, and recommendationsfor leadership, governing boards, and external stakeholders.
  • Support strategic planning, project management, andorganizational change initiatives.
  • Coordinate staff education, training, and competency-relatedactivities to support quality and operational goals and grantdeliverables.
  • Collaborate with clinical, administrative, academic, andcommunity partners to improve care delivery and patientoutcomes.
  • Support population health, patient experience, risk management,and care coordination initiatives.
  • Contribute to reporting requirements as applicable.
  • Monitor project timelines, deliverables, and outcomes to ensureachievement of organizational objectives.

Work Location:

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Substitution: A combination of education and relatedtechnical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for thebachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
  • Two (2) years of experience leading quality improvement and/orprogram implementation projects in health care settings.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time ofhire.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in science or health-related field.
  • Experience with electronic data capture systems (e.g., EMR orEHR and data management systems such as RedCap and/or Atlas.ti).
  • Experience with EPIC EMR system.
  • Six Sigma or Lean certifications.
  • Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM), ProjectManagement Professional (PMP), or similar certification.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for thisposition has been established as $47,533 to $55,614(part-time, 0.8 FTE) or $59,417 to $69,518(full-time, 1.0 FTE).

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents theUniversity's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range ofpossible compensation at the time of posting. This position may beeligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
