Job Summary:

The University of Colorado, College of Nursing, is seeking aBilingual Front Desk Receptionist for a full-time (1.0 FTE),benefits-eligible position within its federally qualified communityhealth center, Sheridan Health Services Community Clinic in Denver,CO. Receptionists support specific service lines within the clinic(pediatrics, primary care, obstetrics, dental, and behavioralhealth) but will be cross-trained to work across those areas aswell.

Clinic Description:

Sheridan Health Services is a multi-site, nurse-managed federallyqualified community health center, funded through the HealthResources and Services Administration Bureau of Primary Healthcare,and is a collaborative effort between the College of Nursing andthe Sheridan School District. There are two convenient locations toserve community health needs primarily for residents of Arapahoe,Denver, and Jefferson counties. A Youth Health Clinic is in theSheridan School District Administration building. The Family HealthClinic is in southwest Denver on the Fort Logan campus and providesservices to adults and children, 65% of whom identify as Latinx,and 42% of whom are best served in another language, with Spanishbeing the predominant second language. Services offered includeprimary care across the lifespan; prenatal and postpartum,gynecology, dentistry, pharmacy, behavioral health, and outpatientsubstance use treatment. Sheridan Health Services is aPatient-Centered Medical Home, and as such, we uphold a modelofcare that places the patient at the center, incorporating thevalues and beliefs of the patient in all decision-making. Key Responsibilities:
Front Desk Operations (60%)
  • Warmly welcome and promptly check in patients andvisitors.
  • Accurately verify and update patient information, ensuringrecords are current.
  • Efficiently manage incoming calls, schedule appointments, anddirect inquiries to the appropriate departments or resources.
  • Notify relevant staff members of patient arrivals in a timelymanner.
  • Process insurance verifications and obtain necessaryauthorizations.
  • Maintain and manage patient records, ensuring confidentialityand compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Upload all required patient documents and records to theappropriate patient charts.
Administrative Support (20%)
  • Address patient billing inquiries and efficiently processpayment transactions for services provided.
  • Prepare, manage, and distribute correspondence, reports, andother necessary documents.
  • Collect, sort, and distribute incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Provide accurate and clear information about clinic servicesand policies.
  • Handle patient concerns and complaints with professionalism,escalating issues to appropriate personnel when necessary.
  • Ensure smooth patient flow by coordinating with clinical staffand managing appointment schedules effectively.
  • Process billing, payments, and log copays using appropriate EHRsoftware.
General Duties (20%)
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming receptionarea.
  • Monitor inventory levels and request office supplies asneeded.
  • Support the implementation and adherence to clinic policies andprocedures.
  • Actively participate in team meetings and contribute tocontinuous improvement initiatives.
  • Adhere to safety, environmental, and infection controlprotocols.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Two (2) years of general clerical experience.
    • Substitution: College or university coursework,appropriate to the work assignment, may substitute on ayear-for-year basis for the experience.

  • Must be willing and able to utilize bilingual skills(Spanish/English) at a conversational level in a clinicalsetting.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience providing support over the phone and in-person todiverse groups of customers.
  • Experience utilizing Microsoft Office programs.
  • Experience working with public and/or private health insuranceplans.
  • Experience using an electronic health record system.
  • Formal certification as a Spanish language interpreter.
  • Experience with scheduling multiple patients, events, and/ormeetings on a daily basis.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing andorally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective workingrelationships with employees at all levels throughout theinstitution.
  • Interpersonal skills to work effectively with patients, theirfamilies, and members of the health care team.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range for this position has been established as $40,248 to $44,274 .

The above salary range represents the University's good faith andreasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at thetime of posting. This position may be eligible for overtimecompensation, depending on the level.
