Job summary

United Performance Metals, An ONI Company, is seeking a Quality Inspector in Hamilton, Ohio. The role focuses on first piece, in-process and final dimensional and visual inspections of precision machined parts to ensure compliance with internal instructions and customer specifications.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with 1–2 years related experience.
  • Ability to operate inspection equipment (micrometers, calipers, gauges).
  • Familiar with aerospace specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Perform first piece, in-process and final dimensional and visual inspections on precision machined parts.
  • Document inspection results and issue non-conformances as required.
  • Inspect received materials against purchase orders and specs.
  • Maintain records of incoming inspections per quality procedures.
  • Coordinate with engineering, purchasing and quality to address issues.
  • Notify teams about non-conforming materials.
  • Set up gauges for floor inspection and follow tag system.
  • Log and file quality records; carry out other duties as assigned.

  • Safety #1 – complies with all safety rules and guidelines set forth by UPM and OSHA.
  • Perform first piece, in-process and final dimensional and visual inspections, on a variety of complex precision machined parts ensuring compliance to all internal manufacturing instructions and customer specifications using a variety of inspections tools; calipers, micrometers, flatness gauges, etc.
  • Document all inspection results consistent with company procedures and customer requirements and issue non-conformances and/or quality notifications for discrepant conditions as required.
  • Inspect and verify the quality and quantity of received materials, parts, or products against purchase orders and specifications.
  • Conduct dimensional and visual inspections using tools like calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other measuring equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of incoming inspections in accordance with quality control procedures.
  • Collaborate with engineering, purchasing, and quality departments to address and resolve quality issues with incoming goods.
  • Notify relevant teams about non-conforming materials and incoming product.
  • Support all manufacturing concerns in a timely manner
  • Set-up gages for floor inspection
  • Follow tag system
  • Fill out, stamp and sign Quality Inspections
  • Log and file quality records
  • Carry out all other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); with one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must possess the ability to use and operate the following equipment and tools: Coil Cart, Micrometer, Calipers, Scale, Fork Truck, Bander, Bander Cutters, Side Loader, and computer.
  • Familiar with office and warehouse environments
  • Basic knowledge of Aerospace specifications.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Fork Truck Training, CTL Training, Safety Training, Fire Extinguisher Training, Supervisor Training and Lean Manufacturing Training.
