Job summary

US Farathane in Georgetown, TX seeks a Quality Engineer to develop and maintain quality systems in accordance with ISO9001/IATF16949. You will support APQP/PPAP activities, lead quality improvements, and serve as the liaison for customers on quality issues.

Responsibilities include ongoing part testing, creating and maintaining quality documentation, leading cross-functional teams, and supporting Run@Rates and SPC implementation.

Qualifications

  • ISO9001, IATF16949, PPAP, APQP, SPC, MSA, FMEA, QOS, 8D Problem Solving experience.
  • Knowledge of quality systems and standards.
  • Knowledge of inspection techniques and measurement instrument usage.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain quality systems per standards and assist customers with issues.
  • Lead or participate in APQP/PPAP activities and PPAP packages.
  • Coordinate with customers on quality performance trends and corrective actions.
  • Perform and maintain layered process audits and run-at-rate studies.
  • Lead quality improvement teams and support SPC implementation.

Job description

Summary

Quality Engineer will develop and maintain quality systems according to standards and to assist customers with any issues.

Essential Functions
  • Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • VOC:
  • Ongoing testing of parts (Functional, Dimensional, Physical properties, etc.)
  • Create, update and maintain Quality Documentation, Customer Contact Reports, Customer Sort Reports, Information Relating to Concerns, Procedures, etc.
  • Serve as a focal point of contact for internal and external customers.
  • Participate in / Initiate cross functional teams in the pursuit of effective problem solving and mistake proofing quality problems.
  • Travel and provide support to customers to resolve problems.
  • Participate and improve in product development meetings to review engineering changes, manufacturing methods, planning and process specifications related with product quality.
  • Coordinate with customers, related with the quality performance trends and corrective action.
  • Communicate production and quality issues with employees and supervision when necessary.
  • APQP: Responsible for development and support of all APQP Documentation required for PPAP, etc.
  • Responsible for development and support of all APQP Documentation required for PPAP, PSO, etc.
  • Responsible for the ECNs after SOP or programs in Production Phase.
  • Prepare and submit APQP documentation.
  • Support and work with Materials and Production departments to plan and perform Run@Rates.
  • Develop visual standards, system criteria, for use in manufacturing operations in a new launch and maintain for serial life products.
  • Plant Activities - Internal: Responsible for following all internal and OSHA required safety procedures.
  • Adherence to all company policies and procedures (i.e. quality manual, associates handbooks, level II procedures, etc.).
  • Perform other duties as requested by the Quality Manager and Corporate Quality.
  • Perform and maintain layered process audit system.
  • Create cell layouts, work instructions for new parts.
  • Responsible for participating in all customer quality audits (IATF, BIQS, etc.).
  • Develop and maintain quality system for projects assigned.
  • Lead and/or participate in implementation and discipline of SPC.
  • Develop all quality related instruction sheets.
  • Participate on 8D and Continuous Improvement teams, provide problem solving consultations as needed.
  • Put PPAP Packages together for submission to customer.
  • Responsible or resolution of customer issues for the project assigned.
  • Provide leadership and guidance for quality personnel in the use of quality methods.
  • Direct contact for all assigned customer base.
  • Work with all customers for resolution of product quality issues.
  • Perform all other duties assigned by Quality Manager.
  • Report any unsafe conditions to your Supervisor.
  • Continue training as required.
  • Understands customer specific requirements.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required by the Supervisor to maintain and operate a safe, efficient and quality conscious operation.

  • Technical Degree/equivalent experience. Computer literate.
  • ISO9001, IATF16949, PPAP, APQP, SPC, MSA, FMEA, QOS, 8D Problem Solving experience.
  • Knowledge of quality systems and standards.
  • Knowledge of inspection techniques and measurement instrument usage.
  • Capable of performing Gage R&R, and Capability studies.
