Job summary

Harmonic Drive Group is seeking a Quality Control Inspector in Beverly, MA. This role is pivotal in ensuring products conform to requirements through various inspection processes, including FAIs and final inspections. Successful candidates will possess a high school diploma, relevant inspection experience, and proficiency with inspection tools.

This is a full-time position operating Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm. Strong attention to detail and a desire to learn new skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret specifications and inspection instructions.
  • Self-starter; able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Highly organized with attention to detail while maintaining a clean workspace.
  • Knowledge of mechanical inspection and proficiency in inspection equipment.
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office.
  • Understanding of production travelers and work instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and document FAIs, receiving, in-process, and final inspections.
  • Resolve issues and answer questions from Operators and Engineers.
  • Assist Quality Engineers in developing inspection work instructions.
  • Drive cost reduction projects using Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Provide inspection support to all departments.

Job description

Summary/Objective

Quality Control Inspector is responsible for performing and documenting FAIs, receiving, in-process and final inspection to ensure product conforms to all applicable requirements.

Essential Functions
  • Applies advanced knowledge of GD&T principles to ensure products meet requirements.
  • Resolve issues and answer questions from Operators as well as from Inspectors and Engineers.
  • Assist Quality Engineers to develop inspection work instructions and inspection plans.
  • Ensures that DRs are properly written and addressed in a timely manner.
  • Participate or lead special projects related to tooling fixtures and gages.
  • Identifies and drives cost reduction projects utilizing Lean Manufacturing principle.
  • Works closely with the team to determine efficiency gaps, and to implement improvements.
  • Provide inspection support to all departments in the organization, perform receiving, in process and final inspection of parts.
  • Perform other responsibilities as required.

  • Must be able to interact and communicate both verbally and written, in English, with coworkers at all levels of the organization.
  • Knowledge of mechanical inspection and proficiency in the use of manual & visual inspection equipment: e.g., Calipers, gauges, micrometers, digital indicators, etc.
  • Basic computer skills (including Microsoft Office).
  • Understands production travelers and work instructions.
  • Strong desire to learn and to apply new skills.

Work Environment

This job operates in a manufacturing environment. This role routinely uses shop floor tools and machinery.

Physical Demands
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate machinery for precision work.
  • Visual acuity (corrected) to read directions and prints and to inspect machined parts closely to ensure that they meet specifications.
  • Frequently required to sit, stand, move about the shop floor, talk, hear, bend and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to squat or kneel occasionally.
Position Type / Expected Hours of Work

This is a full‑time hourly position which operates Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm.

Travel

Occasional (Less than 5%)

Required Education and Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Knowledge of blueprint reading.
  • 4 years of experience in a manufacturing environment and mechanical inspection of precision parts.
  • 4 years of experience with inspection equipment and tools.
