Job summary

Clear Destination Inc. seeks an Inspector to verify stamped, welded and assembled parts against drawings, control plans, and customer requirements.

You will document results and support containment and corrective actions with Production and Quality. Responsibilities include incoming, in-process and final inspections, using calipers, micrometers and CMM programs after training, and recording data in ShopEdge and related systems.

Position Summary

Inspect and audit stamped, welded and assembled products to verify conformance with drawings, control plans, work instructions and customer requirements. Document results, communicate abnormalities and support containment and corrective action with Production and Quality.

Essential Responsibilities

• Perform receiving, in process and final inspections as assigned; verify dimensions, appearance, identification and required records using approved gauges and methods.
• Audit production checks and help operators and pack off associates apply consistent visual and gauge inspection standards.
• Stop and escape suspected nonconforming product; identify, segregate and document affected material in accordance with containment procedures. Verify containment activity as assigned.
• Complete inspection, audit, scrap and quality records accurately in ShopEdge, QCBD or other required systems. Communicate open concerns at shift handoff.
• Operate the CMM using established programs and setups after training; perform dimensional or gauge studies as assigned.
• Perform applicable weld and assembly validation, including cut and etch, push out, torque or tensile tests, after training and according to approved methods.
• Support layered audits, annual validations, PPAP activity, problem solving and corrective action investigations as directed.
• Work with Production, Tooling and Quality to investigate recurring defects and confirm that approved corrective actions are effective.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and at least three years of manufacturing experience required; inspection experience preferred.
• Ability to read drawings, control plans and work instructions; use calipers, micrometers and other inspection gauges; and record results clearly.
• Working knowledge of in process inspection and quality documentation. Familiarity with GD&T, SPC, gauge R&R, root cause analysis and automotive quality systems preferred.
• Basic computer skills, careful attention to detail and the ability to communicate findings promptly across departments and shifts.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

Work takes place in manufacturing and inspection areas, including stamping, welding and assembly operations. The role requires standing and walking for extended periods, bending, repetitive handling and the dexterity to place parts in gauges. May lift up to 50 pounds with assistance or equipment as appropriate. PPE and schedule flexibility may be required. Essential functions may be performed with reasonable accommodation.
