Job summary

Hollingsworth & Vose is seeking a Quality Production Liaison to lead quality initiatives at the EW Mill in Massachusetts. You will drive audits, manage deviations, and partner with Operations to produce a high-quality, safe product.

The role emphasizes data-driven decision making, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement with strong communication and leadership skills. On-site position with manufacturing exposure and a focus on quality excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or minimum 3 to 7 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Preferably 3-5 years of manufacturing experience, preferably in the paper industry.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support quality functions with audits and process deviations within the EW Mill operations.
• Perform daily audits on EW03 slit width and grade changes.
• Own the deviation process review and provide mill management with daily updates.
• Provide statistical analysis of quality data for complaints, improvements, trials, and deviations.
• Facilitate root cause analysis and corrective actions with cross-functional teams and assist investigations using statistical methods.
• Support studies and optimization of unit operations, stock preparation, resin production, drying, saturating, winding, slitting, etc.
• Collaborate with employees to develop practices, policies, and procedures related to quality.
• Assist Process Engineers with Trials and Control Plan/ PFMEA updates.
• Manage Quality Control Lab Personnel performance and time-off.
• Assist with Measurement System Analysis (MSA) as needed.
• Manage quality complaint investigations as needed.
• Document all quality updates directly in Ontiv and record unplanned events in HVantage System.
• Provide routine support and back up for Shift Supervisors as needed.
• Work with employees to develop corrective actions for production and quality improvements.
• Assist in Continuous Improvement and long-term projects.

Job description

The Quality Production Liaison is responsible for providing the necessary leadership for the EW Mill that will optimize the operational and quality workflows. They will support Quality functions with audits and process deviations but will be a member of the operations team working as an active leader with the production employees, assist employees in carrying out their responsibility of producing a quality product in a safe and efficient manner for production employees.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Scope of work includes improving product quality, reducing process variation, minimizing waste, reducing cost, improving asset reliability, increasing throughput, improving employee safety, employee education and training.
• Perform daily audits on EW03 slit width and grade changes
• Own the deviation process review, and provide mill management with daily updates
• Provide statistical analysis of quality data as needed for complaints, improvements, trials, and deviations
• Facilitate root cause analysis and corrective actions with cross functional teams. Assist in investigations using statistical methods/analysis. Identify key systemic failures and work directly with Quality and Operations team for long term corrective actions.
• Support studies and optimization of all unit operations, stock preparation, resin production, drying, saturating, winding, slitting, etc.
• Collaborate with all employees in the development of practices, policies and procedures related to quality.
• Assist Process Engineers with Trials and Control Plan/ PFMRA updates
• Manage all Quality Control Lab Personnel (Paper Testers, etc.) performance and time-off.
• Assist with Measurement System Analysis (MSA) as needed
• Mange quality complaint investigations as needed
• Complete additional audits for quality, process, and dock as needed
• Document all quality updates directly in Ontiv
• Record all unplanned events using HVantage System or other tools.
• Provide routine support and back up coverage for Shift Supervisors as needed.
• Work with employees to develop robust corrective actions for production and quality improvement opportunities.
• Assist in Continuous Improvement and/or long-term projects.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree or minimum of 3 to 7 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Preferably 3-5 years of manufacturing experience, preferably in the paper industry.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENTS

• Must be able to perform typical physical aspects of the job, including standing, walking, lifting (up to 50 lbs.), sitting, bending, and reaching.
• Needs to climb ladders & work in overhead areas such as a warehouse environment.
• Walking and standing wearing the appropriate PPE.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Perform tasks that require constant state of alertness.
• Work performed in laboratory environment with potential exposure to hazardous materials
• Work performed in production area with potential exposure to large equipment/machinery and loud noise
• May be required to walk considerable distances in the facility during work.
• Requires physical ability to operate inside a manufacturing environment that includes hot ambient temperatures and high humidity.
• Work involves occasional nights, weekends and holiday work as required.
