Job summary

The Chief of Quality Management at Veterans Health Administration leads quality management, performance improvement, systems redesign, and related oversight programs. The position reports to the Medical Center Director and has oversight of Continuous Readiness, Utilization Management, Risk Management, Patient Safety, EDRP, Systems Redesign, VASQIP, and Infection Control.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and provides administrative and program oversight for risk management, patient safety, systems redesign, infection control, external peer review, and related quality management programs as assigned by the Director.
• Monitors the status of Quality Management programs and related initiatives affecting patient care quality and regulatory compliance.
• Develops procedures for administrative and clinical committees and service meetings to ensure readiness for external site reviews (e.g., TJC, OIG, CARF).
• Collaborates with executive leaders to develop and implement quality management policies and performance improvement strategies.
• Provides performance improvement direction to system committees and prepares briefs for executive boards and committees.
• Oversees major performance improvement projects and educates staff on performance improvement methodology.
• Directs QM services to align with VHA strategic goals and performance measures.
• Manages program findings to support executive leadership decisions and supervises QM staff (15 employees; 10 Title 38).
