Job summary

University of Southern California seeks a Director of Quality and Outcomes Management to lead evidence-based clinical processes with high reliability. The role oversees clinical data, analytics, and performance improvement initiatives while coordinating resources for meaningful reporting and transparency of metrics.

The incumbent will champion continuous process improvement, act as a change agent, and guide teams in Lean-based improvements across acute and ambulatory care settings.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related field (nursing or clinical) or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • At least five years in a supervisory role with progressive responsibilities in an acute care setting.
  • Strong critical thinking, organization, prioritization, and workload management.
  • Knowledge of data entry, data analysis, and performance improvement methodologies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Familiarity with accreditation and regulatory requirements for acute and ambulatory care (e.g., Joint Commission).
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to review clinical cases for potential quality improvements.
  • Experience building support and consensus and fostering collaboration for results.
  • Ability to conduct educational activities and staff development.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee design and implementation of evidence-based clinical processes with high reliability.
  • Coordinate clinical databases and healthcare analytics to support quality and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure data collection, analysis, and reporting are accurate, reliable, and transparent of key metrics.
  • Lead continuous process improvement projects to enhance healthcare value, quality, and efficiencies.
  • Act as internal consultant on process and outcome improvement, change management, and performance monitoring.
  • Serve as change agent to foster a culture of process improvement throughout the organization.
  • Guide hospital Quality Action teams and facilitate team processes as applicable.
  • Provide education on quality initiatives and liaise with hospital and quality staff.
  • Apply Lean methodologies to drive efficiency and reliability in operations.
