Job description

At BlueOval Battery Park Michigan, you will use your entrepreneurial skills and team mindset to come up with data-driven solutions, build and lead an agile team to deliver advanced technology, create a culture of trust, encourage diversity of thought, foster leadership in others, and be part of the historic transformation of the automotive industry. During training and initial launch, the operating pattern will be an 8-10 hour shift schedule and then transition to a 12-hour shift schedule.

What you'll do

Blue Oval Battery Park Michigan is seeking highly motivated and detail-oriented Quality Operator personnel to join our cutting‑edge battery cell manufacturing facility in Marshall, MI.

Job Summary

This role is responsible for ensuring that manufactured products meet established quality standards and specifications, maintaining product integrity throughout the production process. The operator will perform comprehensive inspections and tests, document results, identify and address defects, and contribute to continuous improvement of quality control procedures, including visual inspections at key points, final product quality, outgoing shipments, and in‑line quality gates.

Responsibilities
  • Implement and promote a strong quality culture within the plant. Conduct visual, dimensional, and functional inspections of raw materials, in‑process components and finished battery cells and components throughout the manufacturing process; monitor quality gates, conduct final inspections and audit outgoing quality.
  • Perform tests according to procedures to verify product performance and compliance, including chemical residue, tensile strength, contamination, metallographic tests, CT scans, X‑ray imaging, CMM, and TGA equipment.
  • Record inspection and test data accurately, maintain detailed logs and reports of all quality control activities, including non‑conformances and process deviations, and communicate findings clearly.
  • Investigate root causes of defects and implement corrective actions; proactively identify opportunities for improving quality control processes and participate in continuous improvement initiatives and audits.
  • Adhere to quality control procedures and standards, including ISO 9001, IATF 16949 and other industry‑specific quality management systems; support internal and external audits across multiple functions.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, specifications and work instructions; ensure measurement and testing equipment is calibrated and maintained.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to address quality issues; ensure compliance with safety, environmental and quality regulations and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
  • Support training management, providing technical training and testing for new employees with the QA and PRD departments.
Qualifications
  • High‑school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a quality‑control role within manufacturing.
Technical Skills
  • Proficiency with measuring tools and testing equipment (calipers, micrometers, gauges, CMM, CT, X‑ray, tensile testers and TGA).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, specifications and work instructions.
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting tools such as Six Sigma, statistical process control and 5‑Why.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, IATF 16949 standards or other relevant quality management systems.
  • Experience with metallography, CT, TGA and chemical analysis preferred.
  • Proficiency with office software for data processing and report output.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify defects accurately.
  • Willingness to work in a clean room or controlled environment as required.
