Day & Zimmermann is seeking an experienced Quality Manager to support our Data Center Construction Project in Point Pleasant, WV.

The anticipated duration of this project is through 2027.

This position will provide leadership and oversight of project quality assurance and quality control activities, ensuring construction, installation, inspection, and testing activities comply with contractual requirements, applicable codes and standards, and established quality management processes.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in industrial or commercial construction quality management, with an emphasis on mission-critical infrastructure, subcontractor quality oversight, and mechanical and piping construction activities.

As the Quality Manager, here's the work you'll do:
  • Lead the implementation, execution, and continuous improvement of the Project Quality Plan, including inspection and test plans (ITPs), quality procedures, and project-specific quality requirements.
  • Provide technical leadership, direction, and oversight to project Quality personnel, subcontractors, suppliers, and third-party inspection and testing organizations.
  • Ensure construction and installation activities comply with approved drawings, specifications, contractual requirements, applicable building codes, and industry standards.
  • Oversee quality activities associated with civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), fire protection, and other mission-critical data center systems.
  • Coordinate inspection, testing, and quality verification activities with Construction Management, Engineering, subcontractors, suppliers, and Owner representatives.
  • Establish and monitor inspection and testing requirements, including preparatory inspections, first-work inspections, surveillance activities, hold points, and witness points.
  • Monitor subcontractor and supplier quality performance, including compliance with approved submittals, material requirements, inspection procedures, and quality documentation.
  • Manage the identification, documentation, disposition, and closure of nonconformances, corrective actions, and quality deficiencies, including root cause analysis when appropriate.
  • Conduct quality audits, field surveillances, and inspections to evaluate compliance, identify risks, and verify the effectiveness of established quality controls.
  • Coordinate with commissioning teams to support equipment verification, pre-functional inspections, system testing, deficiency resolution, and turnover readiness.
  • Maintain oversight of quality documentation, inspection and test records, material certifications, nonconformance reports, and final project turnover packages.
  • Develop and communicate quality performance metrics, inspection status, outstanding deficiencies, and emerging risks to Project Management and Corporate Quality leadership.
  • Collaborate with Project Management to integrate quality requirements into construction schedules, project milestones, and resource planning.
  • Promote a proactive quality culture emphasizing accountability, prevention of defects, continuous improvement, and the principle that quality is built into the work rather than inspected in afterward.
This role is for you if you have these skills:
  • Strong working knowledge of construction quality assurance and quality control principles, including inspection planning, quality management systems, and risk-based quality oversight.
  • Familiarity with data center construction methodologies, mission-critical infrastructure, and mechanical, electrical, and structural construction activities.
  • Working knowledge of applicable construction codes and standards, including IBC, NFPA, ASME, ASTM, ACI, AISC, AWS, NETA, SMACNA and other standards relevant to assigned project scopes.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, construction documents, inspection and test plans, and contractual quality requirements.
  • Experience overseeing subcontractor and supplier quality performance, including inspection coordination, audits, nonconformance management, and corrective actions.
  • Understanding of data center commissioning processes, equipment startup, functional testing, and project turnover requirements.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and technical report-writing capabilities.
  • Demonstrated leadership and communication skills with the ability to coordinate effectively with construction management, union trade personnel, subcontractors, customers, and technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to identify and communicate quality-related risks, recommend corrective measures, and elevate conditions that could affect compliance, reliability, cost, or schedule.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with construction quality management and document control platforms such as Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Bluebeam, or similar applications.
And if you have these requierd qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in construction quality assurance, quality control, or related technical construction disciplines.
  • At least 5 years of experience in quality leadership, management, or supervisory roles on industrial, commercial, infrastructure, or mission-critical construction projects.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing and managing project quality plans, inspection and testing programs, subcontractor quality oversight, and nonconformance/corrective action processes.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary construction quality activities and working with construction management teams, subcontractors, and customers.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience supporting data center construction, hyperscale facilities, mission-critical infrastructure, power generation, or similarly complex industrial projects.
  • Experience with electrical and mechanical systems, including power distribution, switchgear, generators, UPS systems, HVAC, cooling systems, and associated infrastructure.
