Job summary

BAE Systems is seeking a Quality Manager to lead a team of Quality Engineers at our Aiken, South Carolina facility. The role focuses on ISO 9001 compliance, QMS governance, and reducing quality costs while ensuring safety and product integrity. Primary shift is first, with coverage for other shifts as needed.

Responsibilities include steering strategic improvements, liaising with customers, and guiding a high-performing engineering staff through advanced problem-solving and data-driven decisions.

Qualifications

• Typically a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field with six years’ progressive experience in Quality Assurance/Quality Control.
• Leadership experience supervising or developing a technical team.
• Deep operational expertise in ISO 9001, with audits and compliance history.
• Advanced problem solving using A3, DMAIC, RCA.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for executive stakeholders.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and enterprise data apps for decision-making.
• Experience architecting strategies with Six Sigma, Agile and Lean.
• Proven track record leading cross-functional improvement projects.

Responsibilities

• Direct and mentor a team of Quality Engineers.
• Ensure ISO 9001 governance and audit readiness.
• Act as liaison with internal/external customers on quality issues.
• Reduce CoPQ by applying advanced quality methodologies.
• Modernize the QMS with cross-functional best practices.
• Lead risk strategies to eliminate quality escapement risks.
• Oversee staff development and technical skill advancement.
• Translate metrics into executive insights for leadership.
• Lead A3 projects and Kaizen events to improve workflows.
• Develop protocols to safeguard product integrity.
