Job description

Quality Manager – Advanced Manufacturing

A growing U.S. manufacturer is seeking a hands-on Quality Manager to establish, implement, and scale the complete Quality Management System for a new advanced engine assembly and test facility.

This person will own the quality program from soup to nuts, including incoming inspection, supplier quality, in-process manufacturing quality, final product acceptance, metrology, calibration, configuration control, audit readiness, and customer quality.

The Quality Manager will initially operate as an individual contributor, working closely with the Engineering Manager, Operations Manager, and executive leadership to build the quality foundation of the site. As production grows, this person will hire and lead a quality team supporting the facility's transition from NPI through low-rate and full-rate production.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and own an AS9100-compliant Quality Management System
  • Serve as the internal program manager for QMS development, implementation, and continuous improvement
  • Prepare the facility for customer, regulatory, and eventual AS9100 certification audits
  • Establish incoming inspection processes, AQL sampling plans, in-process inspection, and final product acceptance
  • Develop and oversee nonconforming material controls, MRB workflows, corrective actions, and containment activities
  • Implement First Article Inspection requirements in accordance with AS9102
  • Own configuration management and traceability processes aligned with EIA-649-C
  • Establish calibration, metrology, and measurement-system controls
  • Develop counterfeit-parts prevention and supplier quality programs
  • Conduct supplier audits and manage approved supplier requirements, performance, and corrective actions
  • Facilitate DFMEA and PFMEA activities with Engineering and Operations
  • Connect FMEAs, control plans, inspection results, and defect data to drive measurable improvement
  • Lead structured root-cause analysis using 8D, RCCA, Six Sigma, and other problem-solving methods
  • Improve first-pass yield before supporting takt-time and throughput improvements
  • Manage customer quality issues, escapes, containment, and corrective-action responses
  • Build and lead a team that may include Quality Engineers, Inspectors, and a Metrology Specialist
Ideal Background
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field
  • 7+ years of quality experience in aerospace, automotive, engine manufacturing, or another high-reliability manufacturing environment
  • Experience implementing, improving, or owning an AS9100, IATF 16949, ISO 9001, or comparable Quality Management System
  • Strong knowledge of incoming, in-process, and final-product quality
  • Experience with AS9102, FAI, FMEA, control plans, MRB, RCCA, 8D, SPC, Cp/Cpk, metrology, and calibration
  • Experience helping transition products from NPI into production
  • Demonstrated ability to build quality systems, processes, and teams from the ground up
  • Strong understanding of first-pass yield, process capability, defect reduction, and manufacturing variation
  • Six Sigma certification preferred, with Black Belt highly valued
  • Able to work independently, make decisions, and build the function without requiring significant direction
  • Must be willing to work on-site in Stevens Point, Wisconsin

This is an excellent opportunity for a high-performing quality leader who wants full ownership of the quality program and the chance to build a world-class manufacturing operation from the ground up.
