Job summary

Pliant Plastics in Spring Lake, MI is seeking an experienced Quality Manager to lead our Quality Assurance and Manufacturing Process Support activities, aligning quality goals with business strategy and customer expectations.

You will develop the Quality team, maintain the QMS to ISO 9001 and TS/IATF 16949, drive continuous improvement, and partner with Manufacturing to implement effective quality plans, SPC and corrective actions across the plant.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business/management systems.
  • Demonstrated management and leadership experience.
  • Strong team communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of quality systems and auditor training or experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and documentation skills.
  • College-level coursework in injection molding processing, tooling, and plastic testing methods.
  • ISO 9001 / TS / IATF 16949 training and leadership experience.
  • Training and experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
  • Training and experience with AIAG Core Tools, including APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, and SPC.
  • Knowledge of Safety Management Systems and Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration requirements.
  • Knowledge of Environmental Management Systems and Department of Environmental Quality requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, guide, and assess the performance of Quality department personnel.
  • Determine and prioritize departmental resource requirements to effectively support organizational needs.
  • Assess employee training needs and coordinate training and development activities.
  • Maintain and develop Pliant's Quality Management System to meet ISO 9001 and TS / IATF 16949 requirements.
  • Serve as the company's QMS Management Representative and promote the effective deployment of QMS requirements throughout the organization.
  • Coordinate registrar surveillance visits and required follow-up activities.
  • Monitor compliance with the QMS and established quality plans.
  • Develop and implement the Internal QMS audit plan and routinely assess and report on the overall status of the QMS.
  • Partner with Manufacturing to support the effective implementation of quality plans.
  • Train team members on quality disciplines, Statistical Process Control (SPC), and statistical analysis.
  • Assist with the design and implementation of statistical studies.
  • Implement and maintain effective corrective and preventive action and continual improvement programs.
  • Develop and maintain quality measures, including cost of quality.
  • Provide performance appraisals, performance management, and ongoing feedback to direct reports.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Plant Manager.

About the Role

Pliant Plastics is seeking an experienced Quality Manager to lead our Quality Assurance and Manufacturing Process Support activities in support of the strategic goals and operational needs of the company.

In this role, you will lead and develop the Quality team, maintain and strengthen our Quality Management System (QMS), partner with Manufacturing to support quality initiatives, and drive continuous improvement throughout the organization. The ideal candidate brings strong quality systems knowledge, proven leadership experience, and the ability to turn quality standards into effective processes and results.
