Job summary

SMS group USA is seeking a Quality Manager to oversee all quality systems, ISO requirements, SSOPs and customer specifications in the Operations department. You will lead audits, drive continuous improvement, and coordinate with engineers, project managers, customers and vendors to ensure compliance.

The role requires 5+ years in quality with ISO experience, strong analytical and communication skills, and the ability to train in-plant quality personnel. Occasional travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years in quality with ISO experience.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Experience with precision measurement tools.
  • Strong QA and QC knowledge with emphasis on QC.
  • ISO Auditor experience.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, statistical, and computer skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical documents.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information to management, customers, and staff.
  • Ability to solve problems with limited standardization.
  • Computer skills: GSS, Excel, Word.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and standardize methods by which performance metrics are established and reported.
  • Oversee ISO compliance and certification.
  • Create and maintain SSOPs (Safe Standard Operating Procedures).
  • Oversee NCR and IAP programs/systems.
  • Conduct internal audits.
  • Train in-plant Quality personnel, internal auditors, and affected employees.
  • Review work instructions, routers, travelers and inspection documents.
  • Participate in registration/surveillance audits.
  • Ensure corrective actions are properly generated and closed.
  • Ensure document and records controls are maintained.
  • Work with facilities to follow up on audit actions.
  • Communicate with customers, engineers, project managers, customers, and vendors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Summary

Responsible for maintaining all quality systems, including ISO requirements, SSOP's and customer requirements.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Assist in developing and standardizing methods by which performance metrics are established and reported
  • Oversee ISO compliance and certification
  • Create and maintain safe standard operating procedures (SSOP's)
  • Oversee NCR and IAP programs/systems
  • Conduct internal audits
  • Train in-plant Quality personnel, internal auditors, and affected employees
  • Assist in reviewing work instructions, routers, travelers and inspection documents
  • Participate in registration/surveillance audits
  • Ensure corrective actions are properly generated and effectively closed
  • Ensure document and records controls are maintained
  • Work with all facilities to ensure all action items from audits, observations, complaints, etc. are effectively followed through
  • Communicate regularly with various customers, both internal and external. This includes working closely with SMS group's Engineers, Project Managers, customers, and vendors.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree (BA) from four-year college or university in Engineering or a related field preferred
  • 5+ years' experience in quality with ISO experience
  • Able to read blueprints
  • Experience with precision measurement tools
  • Must be well versed in both QA and QC, with emphasis on QC
  • Past supervisory experience highly preferred
  • ISO Auditor experience
  • Strong organizational, communication, statistical, and computer skills
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management team, customers, and staff
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Computer Skills: GSS, Excel spreadsheets and Word Processing Software
