Job summary

Qualifications

  • 7 years of industrial-related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Collects and analyzes production samples to evaluate quality.
  • Analyzes quality control test results and provides feedback to management.
  • Monitors quality control systems for effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Communicates quality information to departments, vendors or contractors.
  • Manages department employees including performance and hiring.
  • Instructs staff in quality control and analytical procedures.
  • Produces reports on nonconformance, quality trends and root cause analyses.
  • Participates in developing product specifications.
  • Identifies critical points in manufacturing and sampling procedures.
  • Creates and implements inspection and testing criteria.
  • Oversees supervisors, inspectors, or lab workers in quality activities.
  • Reviews/updates SOPs and business management systems.
  • Reviews quality documentation for regulatory submissions and inspections.
  • Directs tracking of defects and test results.
  • Direct product testing activities during production cycles.
  • Instructs vendors on quality guidelines and testing procedures.
  • Monitors development of new products to identify potential issues.
  • Confers with marketing/sales to define client requirements.

Job description

Purpose

The Quality Manager's primary goal is to reduce quality issues, audit processes and improve product lines. This role should work towards a year-over-year reduction in customer returns due to quality issues and is responsible for Quality System implementation to ISO-compliant level.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Collects and analyzes production samples to evaluate quality.
  • Analyzes quality control test results and provides feedback and interpretation to production management or staff.
  • Monitors performance of quality control systems to ensure effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Communicates quality control information to all relevant organizational departments, outside vendors, or contractors.
  • Manages all employees of the department including the performance management and hiring of the employees within that department.
  • Instructs staff in quality control and analytical procedures.
  • Produces reports regarding nonconformance of products or processes, daily production quality, root cause analyses, and quality trends.
  • Participates in the development of product specifications.
  • Identifies critical points in the manufacturing process and specifies sampling procedures to be used at these points.
  • Creates and implements inspection and testing criteria or procedures.
  • Oversees workers including supervisors, inspectors, or laboratory workers engaged in quality activities.
  • Reviews and updates standard operating procedures and business management systems.
  • Reviews quality documentation necessary for regulatory submissions and inspections.
  • Directs the tracking of defects, test results, or other regularly reported quality control data.
  • Direct product testing activities throughout production cycles.
  • Instructs vendors or contractors on quality guidelines, testing procedures, or ways to eliminate deficiencies.
  • Monitors the development of new products to help identify possible problems before mass production.
  • Confers with marketing and sales departments to define client requirements and expectations.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Technical, associate's or bachelor's degree in industrial‑related field preferred.
  • 7 years of industrial‑related experience.
  • 3 years of managerial experience.
  • Knowledge of quality concepts, statistical analysis, risk management, and investigation techniques.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Statistical applications, ISO.
Working Conditions

Ability to walk, stand, sit, in any combination up to 12 hours a day. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

Position Type and Expected Hours Of Work

This is a full‑time position. Some weekends, evening hours, off shifts, and call outs are sometimes necessary.
