We are looking for a hands-on Quality Manager to own a Quality Management System and lead a quality team. You will be the company’s AS9100 Management Representative, the primary quality contact for customers and suppliers, and the person who turns inspection data into real process improvement on the shop floor.
This is a leadership role in a company small enough that your work is visible every day. You will set the direction for quality, coach people across the organization, and have a direct hand in how we grow in aerospace and semiconductor markets.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Own the Quality Management System
- Serve as AS9100 Management Representative, responsible for QMS implementation, compliance, maintenance, and ongoing certification
- Maintain the Quality Manual, procedures, work instructions, and forms, with effective document and record control
- Plan and lead internal audits, and host customer (second-party) and registrar (third-party) audits through to closure of findings
- Lead Management Review and report quality performance and trends to leadership
- Maintain AS9100-specific controls, including configuration management, counterfeit-parts prevention, FOD prevention, and product safety awareness
Protect the customer
- Act as the primary quality contact for customers: interpret quality clauses and flow-downs, respond to inquiries, and manage scorecards
- Lead customer complaint investigations and corrective actions using 8D and other structured root-cause methods
- Run the Material Review Board (MRB) and nonconformance process, including disposition, containment, and customer notification
- Oversee first article inspection (FAI) to AS9102 and ensure complete, accurate certifications and quality records ship with every order
- Support contract review so quality requirements are identified and planned for before a job is released
- Maintain the approved supplier list and evaluate, approve, and monitor suppliers and special-process sources
- Ensure customer requirements are correctly flowed down to suppliers, and drive supplier corrective actions when needed
- Define and track quality metrics such as escapes, scrap and rework, cost of quality, and on-time corrective-action closure
- Use inspection and SPC data to find root causes and improve process capability with Production and Engineering
- Support 6S and other shop-floor improvement initiatives
Lead the quality team
- Supervise QC inspectors and quality engineering staff: set priorities, coach, conduct performance reviews, and recommend compensation and disciplinary actions
- Oversee the calibration program for inspection equipment, gages, and tools
- Oversee inspection methods and programs, including CMM inspection
- Develop and deliver training that builds quality awareness and understanding of customer requirements across the company
- Support ITAR and export-control compliance in coordination with leadership
- Follow policies and Code of Conduct, and perform other duties as assigned
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, a technical discipline, or a related field, or equivalent industry experience
- 8+ years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment, including 3+ years in a quality leadership role
- Hands-on experience maintaining an AS9100 or ISO 9001 QMS through certification and surveillance audits
- AS9100 or ISO 9001 Lead Auditor training
- Working knowledge of corrective action, root-cause analysis, MRB, and nonconformance management
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, including GD&T
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Must be a U.S. person as defined by ITAR (see below)
Preferred
- Experience in a precision CNC machining job shop
- Aerospace and/or semiconductor industry experience
- Experience with AS9102 first article inspection and customer quality systems or portals
