Job summary

Midland Industries is seeking a Quality Manager to develop, implement, and maintain our quality management system across operations in Colorado. You will monitor production and supplier processes, lead audits, drive corrective actions, and foster a culture of quality and continuous improvement.

The role requires strong ISO 9001 knowledge, experience with CAPA and PPAP, and the ability to train staff while reporting performance to leadership. Occasional travel to Canada is possible.

  • Lead internal audits and coordinate external audits.
  • Manage CAPA, including root cause analysis and recurrence prevention.
  • Oversee inspection, documentation, supplier quality, and PPAP.
  • Train staff on quality standards and monitor metrics for leadership reports.
  • Foster a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor and improve supplier qualification and performance.

Job description

The Quality Manager develops, implements, and maintains quality management systems to ensure compliance with company, customer, and regulatory, and compliance requirements. This role monitors production and supplier processes for all of Midland Industries operations, identifies root causes of nonconformance, implements corrective actions, and fosters a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the organization. This role manages the quality leaders across Midland.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Quality Management System & Compliance
  • Maintain and oversee the Quality Management System (QT9) in accordance with ISO standards, including ISO 9001:2015.
  • Ensure quality goals, policy, and objectives are implemented and maintained.
  • Monitor compliance requirements, including REACH, RoHS, Prop 65, POP, and related requirements.
  • Maintain a compliance records library to support documentation integrity and accountability.
Audits, CAPA & Corrective Action
  • Lead internal audits and coordinate external audits.
  • Manage corrective and preventive action (CAPA) processes, including root cause analysis.
  • Identify abnormal conditions early and implement corrective actions that prevent recurrence.
  • Establish standardization and systemic corrective actions to sustain long-term quality improvements.
Quality Documentation, Inspection & Supplier Quality
  • Review and approve quality documentation, including work instructions, inspection procedures, and control plans.
  • Oversee inspection processes for incoming, in-process, and finished goods.
  • Manage customer complaints, nonconformance reports, and supplier quality issues.
  • Manage PPAP submissions and documentation requirements.
  • Support supplier qualification and performance monitoring.
  • Monitor quality performance metrics and report findings to leadership.
  • Train employees on quality standards and procedures.
  • Lead risk assessments and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 standards and quality management systems.
  • Experience with root cause analysis methods, including 8D and 5-Why.
  • Preferred knowledge in Resigns and Plastics. Will have oversight of team members who manage metals and rubber products.
  • Six Sigma knowledge or experience preferred.
  • Management of people at remote locations.
  • Internal and external audit experience.
  • Regulatory compliance knowledge, including REACH, RoHS, Prop 65, POP, and related requirements.
  • Strong documentation control skills and attention to documentation integrity.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and employee training skills.
  • Data analysis skills with the ability to monitor quality metrics and report findings to leadership.
  • High attention to detail and ability to identify abnormal conditions early.

  • Customer complaints, nonconformance reports, and supplier quality issues are addressed timely and effectively.
  • Quality documentation, inspection processes, and compliance records remain accurate, current, and controlled.
  • Quality performance metrics are monitored and communicated to leadership.
  • Management of Midland wide quality system and compliance.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in an Engineering discipline.
  • Experience maintaining and overseeing a Quality Management System in accordance with ISO standards, including ISO 9001.
  • Experience leading internal audits and coordinating external audits.
  • Experience managing CAPA processes, root cause analysis, customer complaints, nonconformance reports, and supplier quality issues.
  • Experience with PPAP submissions, documentation requirements, compliance records, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be able to perform inspection, documentation, audit, training, and quality management activities in a manufacturing or operations environment.
  • Must be able to work within production, supplier, incoming inspection, in-process inspection, and finished goods inspection areas as needed.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer may be required.
  • Quarterly travel to other locations, including Canada.
