Job summary

Hydro Extrusions, a world-leading aluminium extrusion company, seeks a Quality Manager in Cressona, PA. This role drives the Quality Department to deliver zero defects, lead containment, customer claim resolution, and continuous improvement using data-driven tools.

You will align with production and customers to raise quality performance and cost efficiency. The position emphasizes customer and manufacturing quality, with coaching, training, and SME activities across lab testing and extrusion

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality or related field.
• At least 7 years of professional experience working in a manufacturing environment.
• At least 5 years of previous leadership experience.
• Must be eligible to access and work with ITAR-controlled information and data.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the site's quality strategy by leveraging technology, data analytics, and quality tools to reduce defects and cost of quality.
• Provide customer support for quality issues and ensure standards are understood and followed.
• Act as a liaison between customer and plant for claims support and quality initiatives.
• Develop, review, and document plant floor processes and drive continuous quality improvement.
• Investigate non-conformances and lead root-cause analysis for corrective actions.
• Document deviations and conduct failure investigations as appropriate.
• Train and coach team members on Quality standards and processes.
• Serve as subject matter expert in quality lab testing, equipment, and process control.
• Ensure completeness and accuracy of inspection records and test data.
• Conduct daily site checks to identify and resolve issues promptly.
• Assist customers in aluminum extrusion basics and quality requirements.
• Maintain high standards of safety and compliance in reporting.

What you will be doing

Job Summary: The Quality Manager is responsible for driving the Quality Department's efforts to deliver zero defects by leading containment activities, problem solving, customer claim resolution, coaching and mentoring team members, and supporting the quality test lab and its processes. This role partners closely with production teams and customers to improve quality performance across the operation. Supporting Hydro's flagship North American manufacturing location, a site whose production output surpasses that of some entire Hydro regions, the Quality Manager will create and execute the site's quality strategy, driving continuous improvement and increasing the use of technology and data-driven tools to reduce customer complaints, test failures, returns, and overall cost of quality. This position is primarily focused on customer and manufacturing quality performance and is not the primary owner of quality systems administration, auditing, or compliance management activities.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute the site's quality strategy by leveraging technology, data analytics, and advanced quality performance tools to reduce defects, customer complaints, returns, and overall cost of quality while improving compliance and test performance metrics.
• Provide customer support for quality issues, technical problem solving, and ensure that quality standards are understood, maintained, and adhered to both the plant and customer facilities.
• Provides a connection between the customer and the plant in claims support, technical problem solving, continuous improvement initiatives, and quality performance projects.
• Developing and reviewing processes on the plant floor including proper documentation, while driving quality strategy and improvement initiatives focused on defect reduction and operational excellence.
• Conducting non-conformance investigations and leading root cause analysis activities to drive sustainable corrective actions.
• Documenting deviations and/or conducting failure investigations, as appropriate.
• Developing, coordinating, and providing training on Quality standards and processes for team members while fostering the growth and development of the Quality organization.
• Trains / Coaches Team Members: Supports learning organization initiative through daily teaching / coaching on the shop floor. Imparts technical knowledge of the process and reactionary logic based on process deviation observation.
• Is a subject matter expert in area of quality lab testing, equipment, dispositioning, lab back up, extrusion processes, and emerging quality technologies that improve measurement accuracy and process control.
• Insuring completeness and accuracy of all inspection records and test data
• Daily walks to scour the site for visible issues in the product and process. Coordinates immediate resolution.
• Assist customers in the fundamentals of aluminum, extrusion processes, and quality requirements.
• Demonstrates high standard for excellence and core belief in quality compliance, accuracy in reporting and always puts safety first.

What will make you successful?

Required Education/Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality or related field.
• At least 7 years of professional experience working in a manufacturing environment.
• At least 5 years of previous leadership experience.
• Must be eligible to access and work with ITAR-controlled information and data, as required for this position.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

• Experience with aluminum extrusion or related manufacturing processes.
• Experience reducing customer complaints, returns, cost of quality, or other key manufacturing quality metrics within a high-volume manufacturing environment.
• Experience leading root cause investigations and corrective actions (8D, A3, DMAIC, or similar methodologies) for customer claims, process issues, and quality failures.
• Experience partnering with production, engineering, and operations teams to improve process capability, product quality, and overall plant performance.
