Job summary

Lake City Plating seeks a Line Inspector to inspect customer parts during manufacturing and before shipment. You will ensure plating and finishing meet quality standards and sign off Travelers for approved parts.

The role requires sharp attention to detail, a strong desire to learn, and the ability to work full-time on-site in Jefferson, OH. Shift is 1st: 6:45am-3:00pm; overtime on Saturdays as needed. PPE provided.

  • No education required. All applicants MUST possess a valid driver license and their own personal vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that plated (or other processed) parts meet established quality standards.
  • Inspect finished parts to ensure that they meet quality requirements.
  • Match process, chromate, topcoat/dye, wax, and other finishing on Traveler. Verify plating thicknesses within tolerances and produce thickness reports.
  • Sign off on Travelers for acceptable parts and affix acceptance stickers as needed.
  • If rejecting parts, indicate rejection on the Traveler and return parts to production line.
  • Maintain stock of testing tape, rejection sticks, and acceptance stickers.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Line Inspectors work closely with Operators on production lines and assist while the line is running. The Line Inspector position conducts inspection of customer parts during the manufacturing process and before the parts are shipped to our customers.

Essential Functions
  • Ensure that plated (or other processed) parts meet established quality standards.
  • Inspect finished parts to ensure that they…
  • Match process, chromate, topcoat/dye, wax, and other finishing on Traveler (Word Order).
  • Assure that plating thicknesses are within tolerances specified on the Traveler; when necessary, produce thickness reports.
  • Pass go/no-go gauges, when applicable.
  • Pass tape test, when applicable.
  • Match quantities, weights, and number of containers on the Traveler.
  • Signoff on Travelers for acceptable parts, and when appropriate, affix acceptance sticker to containers.
  • When rejecting parts, indicate rejection on the Traveler, put reject stick on container, and return parts to production line.
Final packaging
  • Shrink wrap containers and finalize any required packaging/palletizing
  • Bring completed Traveler to office and scan as processed
  • Maintain stock of testing tape, rejection sticks, acceptance stickers, etc.
Provide a safe, clean, and organized workplace
  • Ensure all safety polices are being followed, including proper usage of PPE
  • Ensure that “To Be Inspection” area remain clean and organized

Supervisory Responsibility

This role has no supervisory responsibilities.

This job operates in an office and manufacturing environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The performance of this position requires exposure to a typical manufacturing area that requires the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, appropriate closed-toe shoes, and other PPE as needed. The noise level is moderate.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a Quality Coordinator to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this position, the Quality Coordinator is regularly required to talk and hear. This position requires standing, walking, and sitting. The Quality Inspector is occasionally required to climb, stoop, kneel, or bend. The Quality Inspector must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, Saturdays are mandatory when necessary, this will depend on customer requirements.

1st Shift: 6:45am-3:00pm

Preferred Experience and Education
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment required, especially with quality
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
  • Previous manufacturing experience is required.
  • Forklift experience is required.
  • Personal and dependable transportation to the job location is required.
Travel Requirements
  • All Lake City Plating associates are subject to needing to commute between our Ashtabula and Jefferson, OH plants as necessary. Mileage is reimbursed.
