Job summary

Thogus Products Company is seeking a Quality Assurance Technician to monitor product quality and process compliance across shifts. You will perform inspections, tests, and audits to ensure dimensional, cosmetic, and functional conformity while supporting root-cause investigations.

The role requires measuring expertise, familiarity with ERP quality modules, and collaboration with production teams to prevent defects and sustain a compliant manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • High School Degree or GED Required.
  • College or technical degree preferred.
  • Minimum of one year experience in plastics industry preferred.
  • Minimum of three years in quality assurance/control or manufacturing with inspection.

Responsibilities

  • Perform start-up and end-of-run inspection approvals.
  • Conduct in-process inspections for dimensional, cosmetic, and functional quality.
  • Audit processes and verify adherence to work instructions to prevent issues.
  • Document non-conformances in ERP and support corrective actions.
  • Assist with data gathering and root-cause investigations.
  • Contribute to daily shift reporting and quality containment.
  • Maintain organized quality areas and ensure proper calibration.

Job description

The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for monitoring, measuring, and reporting product quality and process compliance to ensure our manufacturing operations have the support to successfully produce quality (conforming) products on-time to meet the needs of our customers. This role will perform inspections and tests throughout their shift to verify products meet dimensional, cosmetic, and functional requirements per the outlined expectations. This role will act as a technical investigator to determine root cause on production quality issues and as contributor to the QMS as an auditor.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Production Start-up Approval Inspection/Process (First Shot) and End of Run Inspection (Last Shot)
  • In-Process Inspections (Dimensional, Cosmetic, Fit/Form/Function, Product Testing)
  • In-Process Audits – Verify compliance and proper execution of process/operator work instructions; detect compliance/conformance issues to prevent issues from escaping to customers
  • Containment of non-conforming products and utilize ERP system for documenting issues
  • Perform inventory transactions related to product acceptance/rejection
  • Assist via providing information and data on corrective action project investigations
  • Deploy PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) methodologies at the start of each shift for planning out inspection and auditing activity to support the manufacturing production floor
  • Assist the production leadership team by providing additional training, knowledge sharing, and inspection criteria awareness to support the success of inspection-operators
  • Perform Internal Audits and report findings per the schedule as a member of the Internal Audit Team
  • Store and deploy quality documentation and instructions at manufacturing cells
  • Collaborate with the production team on addressing quality issues – Decision Documents, root cause investigation, product disposition, monitoring, and constructive feedback
  • Complete receiving inspection tasks on purchased or outsourced materials
  • Complete daily shift reporting for scrap analysis and compliance to company standards
  • Assist with admin or clerical tasks such as document control, material traceability, and equipment calibration as requested by the Manager or other team members
  • Maintain organization in the quality inspection areas, testing areas, and quality containment areas
  • Regular and punctual attendance (Be here, on-time each day, ready to work)
  • Support initiatives by the Quality Manager to provide white glover service to customers
  • Perform other responsibilities as needed to support the success of the organization

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to read engineering blueprint part drawings
  • Process oriented, ability to follow a set of step-by-step instructions
  • Accurate usage of hand-held measuring equipment (calipers, micrometers, height stand, go/no go gages, thread gages, depth gages, pin gages, torque wrench, dial indicator)
  • Accurate usage of visual measuring equipment (OGP, Comparator)
  • Recognition of product faults (splay, flash, shorts, pulls, warp, sink, etc)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of basic quality control and quality assurance principles
Education, Training and/or Experience
  • High School Degree or GED Required
  • College or Technical degree preferred
  • Minimum of one year experience in the plastics industry preferred
  • Minimum of three years functioning in a quality assurance/control role or manufacturing environment with inspection responsibilities
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
Language Skills
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and work instructions
  • Ability to write routine reports and e‑mail correspondence
  • Ability to effectively communicate with employees and supervision (oral and written)
Mathematical Skills
  • Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, and divide)
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
