Job summary

Tecnadyne in San Diego, CA is seeking a hands-on Quality Manager to lead our QMS and inspection program in a small, high-mix manufacturing environment building subsea thrusters and electro-mechanical systems.

You will drive ISO 9001 certification, design practical inspection processes, supervise inspection staff, and ensure product quality across incoming, in-process, and final stages while collaborating with Engineering and Production.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of quality and inspection experience in manufacturing.
• Experience supervising or leading people.
• Hands-on metrology skills with precision measurement tools.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 and pragmatic implementation for a small business.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Owns QMS and ISO 9001 certification efforts, ensuring practical, lean procedures.
• Designs and leads a company-wide inspection program for incoming, in-process, and final inspection.
• Leads, trains, and coaches inspection staff and supports floor-level priorities.
• Develops supplier quality expectations, conducts supplier reviews, and manages SCARs.
• Applies structured problem-solving tools (5 Whys, fishbone, Pareto) to prevent escapes and improve yields.
