Job summary

Toledo Tool & Die in Ohio is seeking a Quality Inspector - Welding to join our manufacturing team. This full-time role focuses on inspecting welded components throughout the production process, ensuring they meet customer quality standards.

You will identify weld defects, document findings, and work with production, quality, and engineering to reduce rework and improve welding processes. MIG welding knowledge and attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience in manufacturing, welding, fabrication, quality inspection preferred.
  • Basic understanding of MIG welding.
  • Ability to recognize common weld defects and quality concerns.
  • Experience reading work instructions, blueprints, customer specifications, or quality standards preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to make consistent quality decisions.
  • Basic computer and data entry skills.

Responsibilities

Hours For This Position Are Typically

Schedule: 1st shift

Hours: 6AM- 2:00PM

*Must be available to work overtime (daily, weekends & some holidays)

Key Responsibilities

The Quality Inspector - Welding is responsible for inspecting welded components throughout the manufacturing process to ensure compliance with customer quality standards. This position focuses on or this role identifying weld defects, performing cut & etch testing on welds will be a major responsibility, documenting inspection findings, collecting quality data, working with production teams to reduce rework and improve welding processes. The Quality Inspector - Welding will inspect robotic and manually repaired welds, determine whether welds meet customer requirements, and communicate findings to production, quality, and engineering teams.

Essential Job Functions
  • Perform visual inspections of robotic and manually repaired welds.
  • Identify weld defects including porosity, lack of fill, undercut, missed welds, burn-through, and other common welding discontinuities.
  • Evaluate welds against customer specifications and acceptance criteria.
  • Mark weld locations requiring repair or rework.
  • Verify repaired welds meet quality standards before release.
  • Collect and document weld defect data to identify trends and recurring quality issues.
  • Communicate inspection findings with welders, supervisors, engineers, and quality personnel.
  • Assist in root cause investigations and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce weld defects and rework.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records and quality documentation.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
Requirements

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous manufacturing, welding, fabrication, quality inspection, or related experience preferred.
  • Basic understanding of MIG welding processes.
  • Ability to recognize common weld defects and quality concerns.
  • Experience reading work instructions, blueprints, customer specifications, or quality standards preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to make consistent quality decisions.
  • Basic computer and data entry skills.
