Job summary

Protolabs in Brooklyn Park, MD, is seeking a Quality Inspector for Weekday Nights (WDN). You will verify parts meet customer requirements before shipping, perform X, Y, Z measurements, visual inspections, and packaging accuracy checks.

You will record data in the computer system and coordinate corrective actions with supervisors. The role requires strong attention to detail, good communication, and the ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • High attention to detail is required.
  • Able to follow printed and computer-screen instructions.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Able to use measuring instruments such as scales, and calipers.
  • Able to work safely with sharp tools/objects.
  • Able to use a computer and calculator.
  • Able to read and write in English, and do basic arithmetic.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented work environment.
  • Must be punctual and have good attendance.
  • High school diploma or equivalent degree.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct X,Y,Z measurements.
  • Conduct visual cosmetic inspection.
  • Conduct part count verification.
  • Inspect completed order for packaging accuracy.
  • Inspect completed orders for fulfillment accuracy.
  • Enter process information into computer.
  • Identify quality issues relating to manufacturing processes and order fulfillment.
  • Interface with shift supervisor and/ or quality control staff regarding order quantities and part quality.
  • Coordinate corrective action as necessary with department supervisor and co-workers.
  • Determine if an order is shippable.
  • Transport finished parts to shipping area.
  • Communicate with the CQRs as needed.
  • Provide feedback to team leads / Supervisors, any necessary training needs to the Production floor.
  • Adhere to all quality and safety standards within the department.
  • Maintain clean and organized work area with emphasis on safety, quality, efficiency, and utilization.
  • Continually seek to improve work processes and individual performance.
  • Adhere to all company policies and operational procedures.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned

The CNC Quality Inspector is responsible to ensure parts/order fulfillment for a specific order are consistent with customer requirements before they are sent to shipping. This opening is for the Weekday Nights (WDN).

Shift: M-TH 7am-5pm

What you will do
  • Conduct X,Y,Z measurements

Work Environment:

Indoors (A/C); nonsmoking; the majority of this job function is performed in a manufacturing area exposed to machinery and noise; with eye protection and safety shoes required. Occasionally works in outside weather conditions. Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
