Job summary

Protolabs in Nashua, NH is seeking a Quality Inspector I to ensure product quality through first piece, in‑process, and final inspections and by maintaining inspection data records. The position emphasizes strict adherence to safety and quality guidelines, with a Monday–Friday 3pm–11pm shift and a $2.40/night differential.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to read and follow printed and computer‑screen instructions and directions from supervisors.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to use measuring instruments such as scales and calipers.
  • Ability to work safely with sharp tools/objects.
  • Ability to use a computer and calculator.
  • Ability to read and write in English and perform basic arithmetic.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment.
  • Must be punctual with good attendance.
  • Strong attention to detail required.

Responsibilities

  • Read customer print to work order and ensure requirements are met (dimensions, GD&T, surface finish, materials, plating).
  • Record and archive inspection results.
  • Write up parts requiring reworks or remakes via non-conformance reports and route to operations.
  • Complete first article inspection (FAI) reports when required by customers.
  • Maintain safe, clean, organized workspace and properly store tools.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Join our team as a Quality Inspector!

The Quality Inspector I is responsible to ensure product quality by completing first piece, in-process, and final product inspection while maintaining a record of all inspection data.

Shift: Monday to Friday 3pm to 11pm ($2.40 Shift differential)

What you will do
  • Read customer print to work order.
  • Read customer prints and associated job documentation and ensure all requirements are met. This includes but is not limited to basic dimensions, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, surface finish, material type, and plating/finish requirements.
  • Record and archive inspection results.
  • Write up parts requiring reworks or remakes via non-conformance reports and route them to the proper operations.
  • Complete first article inspection (FAI) reports when required by the customers.
  • Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following all plant rules.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness in the workplace and ensure all tools are properly stored and accounted for when not in use.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
What it takes

  • Able to comprehend and follow printed and computer-screen instructions, and direction from supervisors or technical leads.

  • Able to use measuring instruments such as scales and calipers.
  • Able to work safely with sharp tools/objects, such as but not limited to hobby knives, utility knives, diagonal‑cutting pliers.
  • Able to use a computer and calculator.
  • Able to read and write in English, and do basic arithmetic.
  • Able to work in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented work environment.
  • Must be punctual and have good attendance.
  • Strong attention to detail is required.

$18.51 - $24 an hour

Work Environment:

Indoors (A/C); nonsmoking; the majority of this job function is performed in a manufacturing area exposed to machinery and noise; with eye protection and safety shoes required. Occasionally works in outside weather conditions. Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
