Job summary

Schaefer Plastics is seeking a Quality Inspector for our plastics manufacturing operations in Lodi, CA. You will inspect materials, in-process items, and finished products to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards. Read blueprints, use measurement tools, and document results.

Collaborate with production, warehouse, and engineering teams to support continuous improvement on the production floor. Shift is 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m., seven days per week.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; quality certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of quality inspection or quality control experience in manufacturing.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, measurements, and technical documents.
  • Experience using inspection and measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Strong attention to detail, documentation skills, and math/measurement ability.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel, and ability to learn digital quality systems.
  • Self-motivated, dependable, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and roll up to 500 pounds.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 standards is a plus.
  • Flexibility to support varying shifts and overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect incoming materials, in-process production, and finished products to verify compliance with specifications and quality standards.
  • Use measurement and inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to confirm dimensional accuracy and functional performance.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, specifications, and work instructions accurately.
  • Identify, label, and properly control non-conforming material in designated Quality Hold areas.
  • Record inspection results and test findings clearly, accurately, and completely.
  • Partner with production, warehouse, shipping, and engineering teams to resolve quality issues and reduce scrap or rework.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts and contribute to quality-focused decision-making on the production floor.
  • Provide additional shift coverage as needed, with advance notice and supervisor approval.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Quality Management

Shift Schedule:
Shift is 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., operating 7 days per week. (2-2-3 Schedule)
