Job summary

TriMas Company LLC in El Cajon, CA, is hiring a Quality Inspector II for the 2nd shift on-site. This hourly, full-time role focuses on ensuring product quality across machined, sheet metal, and welded parts, with setup on surface plates and use of inspection equipment.

The candidate must have at least three years of job shop experience, basic blueprint reading, GD&T knowledge, and ability to multi-task while maintaining accuracy. Forklift operation and MS Office skills are desirable.

Qualifications

• Three years of recent experience in a job shop environment.
• Basic knowledge of sheet metal, welding, and machining.
• Basic blueprint reading skills, including GD&T.
• Proficiency in basic shop math functions used in inspection setup procedures.
• Ability to read and understand customer and industry specifications.
• Organized and able to multi‑task.
• Detail oriented.
• Willingness to work as a team.
• Ability to drive a forklift.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Inspect machined parts, sheet metal parts, and welded parts for material, quality workmanship, dimensional accuracy and functionality.
• Perform inspection setup on surface plates using common inspection equipment.
• Operate hardness testing machine and Optical Comparator.
• Conduct receiving inspections and complete associated paperwork.
• Perform first article inspections.
• Report discrepancies by writing Rejection Notices.
• Inspect outside processing and complete associated paperwork.
• Perform all other duties as assigned or directed.
• Pass an eye test.
