Job summary

R.H. Sheppard Co. Inc. seeks an Inspector II to inspect products from internal components across multiple machine operators, ensuring conformance to QCI and process control charts. You will conduct sample and 100% inspections of in-process and final parts, under moderate supervision.

Key duties include using gauges, recording data, interpreting blueprints, and communicating defects to operators and supervisors. Must have lean manufacturing knowledge and the ability to work overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• One year in a manufacturing environment with demonstrated ability to interpret and comprehend plans and/or blueprints.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Basic MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams).
• One year of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in shipping/receiving in a production/manufacturing environment.
• Completion of forklift certification.
• Problem solving skills.
• Ability to prioritize and work well under pressure.
• Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques with emphasis on Standardized Work, Continuous Improvement, 5S, and JIT principles.
• Ability to work overtime as needed both daily and weekends.
• Cross-training is a must to assure flexibility.

Responsibilities

• Inspects products and undertakes sample, audit, and 100% inspections as appropriate on in-process and final parts.
• Uses gauges such as bore gauge, snap gauge, and various micrometers.
• Documents data on prints and first piece forms and decides run feasibility based on inspection results.
• Communicates defects or unusual conditions to machine operators and supervision for corrective action.
• Completes daily inspection documents (daily inspection form, first piece, QCI forms, and Process Control Charts).
• Works under moderate supervision.
