Job summary

Ingalls Shipbuilding, a division of HII, is seeking a Quality Inspector in Pascagoula, MS. The role inspects visually and dimensionally, checks electronic units and subsystems, and ensures compliance with specifications. Reworks or rejects defective units as needed, following blueprints and inspection instructions.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent and 2 years additional education and/or related experience.
• Apprentice graduate/ Associate's Degree in relevant discipline and 1 year of related experience.
• May require certification.
• Must be able to read a blueprint.
• Able to work indoors/outdoors year round in all weather conditions.
• Able to travel when needed.
• 2 years prior experience in major shipbuilding crafts: Pipe, Shipfitting, Welding, Electrical, Sheetmetal, Machinery, Joiner or a valid NACE certification for Coatings.

Responsibilities

• Inspect visually in-process and completed products such as electronic units and subsystems, precision electromechanical assemblies or mechanical units, subassemblies, structural flaws, internal defects, and missing welds.
• Use various measuring devices to accept, reject, or rework defective or malfunctioning units or systems.
• Work from blueprints, diagrams, dial indicators, preset micrometers, scales, fixtures, customer specifications, drawing or inspection instructions and checklists.
• May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.
• Perform line clearances after each lot to ensure all materials from the previous lot have been removed.
