Position Summary

The Quality Inspector II is responsible for performing advanced quality inspections and supporting the development and implementation of inspection protocols for Aerospace and Defense parts. This role involves verifying product conformance to specifications, reviewing documentation, and leading investigations of non-conformances or defects. The Quality Inspector II collaborates closely with production, engineering, and quality assurance teams to ensure product quality and continuous improvement. A deeper understanding of quality systems, regulatory standards, and problem-solving skills are essential.

Shift: 2nd shift

Responsibilities include:

  1. Performing comprehensive inspections of incoming materials, in-process products, and final assemblies for conformance to specifications.
  2. Representing quality assurance positively and professionally with production teams.
  3. Verifying conformance using measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  4. Documenting inspection results and non-conformances.
  5. Reading and interpreting complex technical drawings and blueprints.
  6. Following procedures to perform routine quality checks.
  7. Creating and maintaining inspection records for traceability and compliance.
  8. Ensuring inspection equipment is calibrated and maintained.
  9. Assisting with identifying non-conforming products and initiating corrective actions.
  10. Collaborating with production to identify improvements and support quality initiatives.
  11. Conducting first piece inspections efficiently and accurately.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proficiency with measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, height gauges).
  • Attention to detail and defect identification skills.
  • Good documentation and reporting skills.
  • Organizational skills and task prioritization.
  • Ability to follow instructions and procedures.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2-4 years in an inspection role, preferably in Aerospace and Defense manufacturing.
  • Strong math skills for working with fractions and decimals in imperial and metric systems.
  • Experience in aerospace manufacturing is a plus but not required.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • Office environment with standard equipment.
  • Potential exposure to production floor hazards, fumes, and noise.
  • Ability to wear PPE and perform manual tasks, including lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required.
