Job summary

Saint-Gobain Life Sciences in Florida is seeking a Quality Inspector to compare parts to drawings and specifications, report non-conformances, and support inspection processes. You will assist in investigations, guide new technicians, and ensure good documentation practices across quality records.

The role involves reviewing work orders, managing inventory discrepancies, and releasing approved products. Candidates should have a HS diploma (or equivalent) and 2+ years of quality inspection

Qualifications

  • Experience in inspection and documentation practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret specifications and reports.
  • Knowledge of 5S and housekeeping in the inspection area.

Responsibilities

  • Compare parts to drawings/specifications and report non-conformances.
  • Investigate non-conformances and forward details for disposition.
  • Assist in orienting new technicians and inspection processes.
  • Manage inventory discrepancies and perform stock audits.
  • Perform environmental monitoring as required by policy.
  • Release and certify approved/inspected product.
  • Maintain supplies to prevent depletion and reorder as needed.
  • Carry out department plans and procedures per regulations.
  • Communicate instructions to staff as needed by Quality Manager.
  • Participate in off-site training when required.
  • Report safety hazards to EHS Coordinator.
  • Perform 5S in the work area and other duties as assigned.

Job description

The Quality Inspector will be responsible for comparing measurements, form, fit, function, and value judgments of simple and complex parts to drawings/specifications and general workmanship standards using documents, experience, and knowledge of inspection techniques of Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics. Responsible for ensuring Good Documentation Practices are utilized throughout all quality records that are reviewed/completed/inspected/audited. Responsible for work order review and batch order closure.

Job Duties Include:

  • Compare purchased, first piece, in process, and finished goods to established drawings/specifications/workmanship standards; reports non-conformances to Coordinator/Supervisor/Manager.
  • Help to investigate scope of the non-conformance and forward details to Coordinator/Supervisor/Manager for disposition.
  • Assist in orientation of new technicians and inspection processes, as necessary.
  • Review and Manage (move tickets) inventory and search for discrepancies that may negatively affect the quality of products.
  • Perform environmental monitoring activities as required by policy.
  • Releases and certifies approved/inspected product
  • Maintain proper level of supplies (office and inspection) to prevent depletion. This includes reordering tasks.
  • Carry out formulated plans, policies and procedures of the department per regulations.
  • Communicate with employee's any instructions or requirements as deemed necessary by the Quality Manager.
  • Must be available for shift work, when necessary.
  • Be willing to participate in training that may be conducted off-site.
  • Report safety hazards observed to EHS Coordinator.
  • Perform stock audits and other related duties as may be required.
  • Regularly perform 5S activities which involves the cleanliness, organization, and standardization of work area
  • Perform other duties as assigned by senior management.

Education:
HS Diploma or equivalent - preferred
Experience:
Two or more years as a Quality Inspector - preferred
Ability to follow/interpret verbal, written, oral, diagram and/or schedule form instructions
Ability to read reports and generate reports on productivity and efficiency
