Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Use micrometers, calipers, indicators, and other tools to measure dimensions and tolerances.
  • Audit incoming materials against drawings, PO requirements, Dexter/industry standards.
  • Review and verify in-process documentation and Epicor transactions for accuracy.

Job description

The Quality Inspector 1 position is responsible for inspecting work during multiple phases of production and communicating and processing gaps in that quality according to our Quality Management System (QMS).

Major Responsibilities
  • Conduct detailed inspections—both visual and dimensional—of aerospace, medical, semiconductor, and related components and assemblies to ensure compliance with industry standards, Dexter specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Perform first article inspections with approval from Quality Control (QC) leadership and/or senior QC inspectors.
  • Utilize precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, indicators, and other measurement instruments to measure dimensions and tolerances accurately.
  • Audit all incoming materials to ensure accompanying documentation aligns with engineering drawings, purchase order requirements, and Dexter/industry standards.
  • Review and verify all in-process documentation and Epicor system transactions for accuracy.
  • Generate stock labels and manage inventory documentation through the Epicor ERP system.
  • Accurately record inspection results in accordance with established work instructions and procedures.
  • Identify, tag, and document non-conforming materials, placing them in designated quarantine areas and collaborating with QC leadership for resolution.
  • Provide support to other QC Inspectors by assisting with routine inspection tasks as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while actively practicing 5S workplace organization principles.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned in support of the company’s quality objectives and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; technical or vocational training in manufacturing, engineering, or quality is a plus
  • 1 plus years of experience in quality control inspection, preferably within aerospace or medical device.
  • Interest in developing skills in quality control, inspection, or manufacturing
  • Basic understanding of measurement tools and willingness to learn technical procedures
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to follow written instructions and procedures
  • Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and basic computer usage; ERP system experience is a plus
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings is a plus, but not required—training will be provided

Work Environment and Physical Demands
  • Works in a clean, air‑conditioned and well‑lit production environment- protective foot and eyewear required.
  • This includes standing, walking, sitting, and lifting.
  • Lift and transport an average weight 10 lbs., maximum 40 lbs.
  • Manual dexterity of both hands.
  • Near Visual Acuity (either corrected or uncorrected).
  • Ability to understand verbal direction and instruction. Ability to give feedback to engineers and brainstorm with others on the prototype team. Must be able to read, understand and comply with all quality and safety regulations.
How This Position Contributes to the Effectiveness of the Quality Management System

The Quality Inspector is responsible for verifying product is in conformance with customer and company specifications. That work is critical to producing quality product and not releasing non‑conforming product into the market.

Failure to meet quality standards can result in product not working in the customer’s application.

$23‑25 HOURLY
