Job summary

Parker Aerospace in Irvine, CA is seeking a Quality Inspector 3 (Electronics) to perform in-process and final inspections of subassemblies and electronic systems. Qualifications

The Defense Systems Division is part of the Parker Aerospace Group, located in Irvine, California. Our products are used across military and commercial platforms globally. Position Summary/Essential Functions

Primarily performs in process and final inspection of new and repaired sub assemblies, assemblies, and electronic systems. Using standard inspection devices and/or elementary testing equipment, and following prescribed inspection procedures, sets up, checks and visually inspects bench-assembled production components and subassemblies for conformance to predetermined electronic standards, specifications or tolerances in accordance with IPC-A-610 and JSTD-001. Works from production schematics, drawings, shop orders, specifications, and blueprints and uses precision measuring instruments to check dimensional accuracy of products. Does all type of electronic inspection, and some mechanical inspection, for Receiving, In-process, and Final Inspection.

Responsibilities
  • Examines layout and installation of wiring, cables, subassemblies, hardware, and components to detect assembly errors.
  • Compares assembly with parts list to detect missing hardware.
  • Visually examines joints, wires and cables to locate soldering defects.
  • Examines alignment of parts and measures parts for conformance to specified dimensions.
  • Twists dials, knobs, shafts, and gears to verify freedom of movement.
  • Traces cables and harness assemblies, following cable wiring diagram, to verify routing of wires to specified connections and conformance of cable lacing and insulation to manufacturing standards.
  • Examines plated areas for uniformity and thickness.
  • Performs 1st article inspection of sub assemblies and assemblies.
  • Examines parts for surface defects such as chips, scratches, and pinholes.
  • Witnesses in process and acceptance testing of assemblies and systems.
  • Examines production documents to ensure that all assembly, inspecting, and testing steps were performed according to specifications.
  • Calculates percentage of defective parts.
  • Records inspection data such as serial number, type and percent of defects, and rework required.
  • Light housekeeping in inspection department, keeping inspection equipment and work stations clean.
  • Performing such duties as filing and copying, and other tasks as assigned by the inspection supervisor.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), and 3 to 6 years related electronics inspection experience and some mechanical inspection experience required.
  • J-STD-001 Certification preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organizations. Ability to communicate in English.
  • Must be able to adequately communicate with coworkers. Good written and verbal communication skills in English required.
  • IBM PC basic knowledge, MS Word, MS Excel MS Outlook
  • Must be able to operate solder irons, cutters, wire strippers, crimpers, heat guns, IBM PC, telephone, fax copier, scientific calculator, multimeter, microscope and Company van.
  • Position involves ability to frequently or constantly exert up to 20 pounds of force and occasionally exert up to 50 pounds of force to move objects.
  • Position involves ability to occasionally move objects of 100 pounds or more with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. While performing this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle objects and tools, and reach with hands and arms. This position requires that the employee have the ability to hear, see and speak clearly to communicate. In this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, and occasionally required to stand, stoop, reach, or crouch. Extended hours and overtime are occasionally required to meet job requirements. Accountability to established schedules and/or time pressures required. Travel is occasionally required. Proof of valid Driver’s License required.
  • Normal office/inspection lab environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually low. Work area is usually subject to air conditioning/heating.
