Job summary

Midwest Plastic Engineering Inc in Sturgis, MI seeks a detail-oriented Quality Inspector to ensure plastics components meet stringent standards. You will inspect, measure, document, and collaborate with production to resolve defects, while interpreting drawings and maintaining tools.

Experience in plastics manufacturing and proficiency with precision instruments are required; a high school diploma is essential, with technical certification a plus.

Qualifications

• Experience in quality inspection, preferably in plastics, injection molding, or manufacturing.
• Proficiency with precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc).
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 or similar quality management systems preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Solid written and verbal communication skills for documentation and team collaboration.
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification a plus.

Responsibilities

• Inspect finished plastic components and assemblies for defects, dimensional accuracy, and compliance with specifications.
• Perform in-process and final inspections using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring tools.
• Document inspection results, non-conformances, and quality reports accurately.
• Collaborate with production teams to identify root causes of defects and support corrective actions.
• Review and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and quality standards.
• Maintain and calibrate inspection equipment in accordance with quality procedures.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and ISO/quality management system compliance.

Job Details

• All new hires at Midwest Plastic are onboarded through our preferred staffing agency
• Starting rate of pay $17.50, increases to $19.45 after completing probationary period with staffing agency
• Work hours: 3:30pm to 12:00 am. 30 minute unpaid lunch.
