Job summary

Schaefer Plastics North America, LLC is seeking a Quality Inspector to ensure product quality on the shop floor and support continuous improvement across production. The role emphasizes meticulous inspection, adherence to drawings, and accurate documentation in a high-volume plastics manufacturing environment.

The position requires basic tooling knowledge, the ability to read blueprints, and the stamina to handle lifting up to 50 pounds while maintaining safety and precision.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; quality certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of quality inspection or quality control experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, measurements, and technical documents.
  • Experience using standard inspection and measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Strong attention to detail, documentation skills, and math/measurement ability.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel, and ability to learn digital quality systems.
  • Self-motivated, dependable, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and roll up to 500 pounds.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 standards is a plus.
  • Flexibility to support varying shifts and overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect incoming materials, in-process production, and finished products to verify compliance with specifications and quality standards.
  • Use measurement and inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to confirm dimensional accuracy and functional performance.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, specifications, and work instructions accurately.
  • Identify, label, and properly control non-conforming material in designated Quality Hold areas.
  • Record inspection results and test findings clearly, accurately, and completely.
  • Partner with production, warehouse, shipping, and engineering teams to resolve quality issues and reduce scrap or rework.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts and contribute to quality-focused decision-making on the production floor.
  • Provide additional shift coverage as needed, with advance notice and supervisor approval.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Quality Management.

Shift Schedule

Shift is 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., operating 7 days per week. (2-2-3 Schedule)

Key Responsibilities
