Job summary

BRINC seeks a Quality Inspector to ensure every shipped product meets stringent quality standards for life-saving drones and systems. You will conduct in-process and final inspections, identify defects, and coordinate with technicians to correct issues and close root causes.

You will work with Quality, Test, and Design Engineering teams to define critical-to-quality characteristics and measurement methods. The role begins on second shift (~3:00 PM-11:30 PM) with a planned move to day shift

Qualifications

  • 2+ years as a technician in aerospace, defence or medical industries.
  • 2+ years reading/interpreting work instructions, drawings or inspection plans.
  • 2+ years using hand tools.
  • 2+ years using calibrated tools (height gauges, calipers, micrometers, torque wrenches).
  • 2+ years of RCCA experience.

Responsibilities

  • Use metrology equipment to ensure product performance for hardware (PCBAs, optics, harnessing, soldering, etc.).
  • Report non-conformances and establish containment for suspect material.
  • Read/interpret instructions and drawings to perform quality inspections.
  • Perform in-process and final inspections for assembled products and subassemblies.
  • Develop SOPs for inspectors/technicians.
  • Support MRB discussions for nonconforming material.
  • Partner with manufacturing to implement corrective actions.

About this Role:

BRINC is seeking a Quality Inspector to ensure that every product we ship meets the rigorous quality standards our customers need as they utilize our drones to complete life-saving missions every day. As a Quality Inspector you will be responsible for performing in-process inspection as well as final inspection for all BRINC products. You are empowered to identify defects, bring these to the attention of the technician who built the product, require the defect to be repaired/corrected, and evaluate/fix any process gaps that resulted in the defect being generated in the first place. You will partner with the Quality, Test, and Design Engineering teams to identify critical-to-quality characteristics as well as the measurement method used to evaluate them. This role begins on second shift (~3:00 PM-11:30 PM), with an anticipated transition to day shift within 4-6 months; shift assignment is subject to change based on business needs

Key Responsibilities:
  • Use metrology equipment to ensure product performance for highly-complex hardware, including PCBAs, optics, harnessing, soldering, mechanical fastening, adhesives, etc.
  • Report non-conformances when defective material is found and establish a process for containing all suspect material.
  • Read/interpret work instructions and drawings to define and perform quality inspections.
  • Perform critical in-process and final inspections for assembled products and subassemblies, including optics, PCBAs, precision machined components, and composite components.
  • Develop SOPs for other inspectors (or technicians) to follow for day-to-day tasks.
  • Support Material Review Board discussions to determine product dispositions for nonconforming material.
  • Partner with manufacturing technicians to implement sustainable corrective actions when defects are root caused..
Qualifications:
  • 2+ Years as a technician in the aerospace, defence or medical industry
  • 2+ years of experience reading/interpreting work instructions, engineering drawings, and/or inspection plans
  • 2+ years of experience using hand tools
  • 2+ years of experience using calibrated tools, i.e. height gauges, calipers, micrometers, torque wrenches, etc.
  • 2+ years of experience with Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Preferred Skills:
  • Associate's Degree or higher
  • 2+ Years as a quality inspector
  • Understanding of SCAR and Nonconformance reports (NCR)
  • Experience with Material Review Board (MRB) activities
  • ASQ Quality Inspector certification or similar
  • Certified inspector to IPC-610
  • Certified inspector to IPC-620
  • Familiar with automated inspection equipment, including Romer arms, comparators, CMMs, and other metrology software based inspection methods
