Quality Inspector

Manager, Quality (Manufacturing) or Supervisor, Quality
Summary:

This role involves routine, repetitive work, including visual, manual, and instrument checking of molded and assembled plastic parts to ensure they meet customer standards for dimensions, appearance, and physical effort. It requires the use of measuring instruments, visual acuity, and physical test instruments. Some judgment is involved based on knowledge of Statistical Process Control, sampling techniques, and departmental standards. Good color judgment is required.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Inspect and verify dimensional, appearance, and effort qualities of plastics, molded parts, and assemblies, including color.
  • Set up and use test instruments to determine compliance with quality standards.
  • Review blueprints to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Label, reject, accept, or hold parts and materials based on quality.
  • Report unacceptable materials and parts for corrective action.
  • Visually examine materials and assemblies for appearance standards.
  • Manually check assembled parts for proper function.
  • Work as part of a team and participate in problem-solving meetings.
  • Perform auditing duties.
Education and Experience

High School Diploma or GED required.

Skills and Abilities

Ability to analyze information, follow directions, and work independently. Must score at least 50 on the Wonderlic assessment (or 16 on the cognitive portion).

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to walk and push a cart throughout the shift.
  • Repeated bending and lifting.
  • Manual dexterity to use measuring devices and build verification parts.
  • Capable of lifting up to 30 pounds.
Travel Requirements

Typically no travel required.
