Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Identify non-conforming parts and work with suppliers to resolve findings.
  • Collaborate with engineering/manufacturing to address deviations from drawings.

The present company was formed in 1959 when the Magnethermic Corporation acquired the assets of Ajax Electrothermic Corp. combining their expertise and capabilities.

Position Summary

Ajax TOCCO is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Inspector to join our Quality Assurance team. The Quality Inspector is responsible for performing highly accurate dimensional, visual, and functional inspections on incoming materials, in process assemblies, and finished products. This role ensures all components meet engineering specifications, regulatory requirements, and internal quality standards. The inspector supports production, engineering, and quality teams by providing precise measurements, thorough documentation, and clear communication of nonconformances. The Inspector will be responsible for ensuring that incoming materials, work-in-process, and finished products meet all specified requirements. This role involves detailed inspection and documentation to create clear, accurate records that support the repair and manufacturing process.

Job Duties
  • Perform inspection of incoming materials, work-in-process, and finished components/products. Record applicable dimensions of repaired products, creating electronic files for historical reference.
  • Document the dimensional and visual conditions of incoming materials for repair. Log and maintain inspections and full detailed descriptions of pass/ fail findings to clearly describe the status of inspections.
  • Use inspection equipment, including micrometers, calipers, hardness testers, squares, gauge blocks, indicators, levels, optical jigs, fixtures, profilometers, and height gauges. Coordinate measuring machine (CMM) experience is preferred.
  • Create inspection reports that can be presented both internally and externally to suppliers and our customers.
  • Report on non-conforming parts and material and work with internal and external suppliers to resolve findings as needed.
  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing to address deviations between products and drawings.
  • Develop forms and sketches as needed to ensure clear documentation of inspection findings, adhering to quality procedures.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 standards and processes within a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to interpret complex drawings, specifications, handbooks, and verbal or written instructions, with a working knowledge of GD&T.
What you need to be successful

  • 5+ years in inspection
  • 5+ years of experience with quality systems

  • Mechanical Inspection Certification
